I'd feel really rich if I could afford a house and a car. But like others have said, I'm rich in other ways - friends and family, good memories etc.
I don't really want to be filthy rich, as people would probably be after my money all the time. But enough to be able to buy a nice house (not huge! Wouldn't want to have to clean it all!) with a garden, a little car and have some money left over for helping my family, go on holidays etc, that would be fab! So if anyone's got 1-2 million to spare, just shout!
If I've done my sums right and assuming interest rates/tax/inflation remain exactly as they are today, I can draw an inflation proofed net £50k/yr until my 100th birthday if I put £3.62M into the bank today.
Clever use of a personal pension would improve matters a bit.
To "feel" rich, 100M would do it.
Thing is, when you have money, the temptation is not to work... If you do not work, you have a lot more time on your hands and a lot more oppertunities to spend.
