[QUOTE=Gojive;511573...
From a man's pov, if I find myself following a woman (simply 'cause we're both walking the same direction), I cross to the opposite side of the road, rather than walk up behind her.

Me too. I'll start off by walking as far to one side or t'other ... until I can cross .... or I may just slow right down, or over take.
My tips:
If I am going to be out late I always carry enough for a taxi home (as I don't drive).
I carry a personal attack alarm with me at all times.
Work has given us a couple of classes in self defense - even a set of keys can be used as a weapon if required.
Although I have no wish to use either a weapon or my self defense moves, I will if I have to. I currently have my hair up one of these metal hair clips (I tend to carry one in my bag when I am not wearing one)
Some of the moves work taught me, with that in my hand could be quite effective - the point is quite sharp
There is a reason why I don't tend to actually wear them during dancing - hands could be lacerated by the points - never mind anything more sensitive
Cheery talk this isn't it?
