First time last night at Berkhamstead only had a great 50mins of dance due to the ever impressive biggest car park in the world the M25.
Anyway i thought this is a great venue,very personal,good music,lighting ect..
Nice to meet Lory,Maxine,Jay Jay,Mr Darcy,Icey,Jerry,Ant,Racheal and David Bailey (thanx for the tips).
Had some fab dances with some fab ladies..i thank you all for making me look half decent.
I will get Trouble to teach me some sexy moves for next time
Daventry was nice but i believe Berko is what blues is all about. Where was your first blues night and what were your thoughts and is there better than Berko out there, baring in mind ive only been to two...
Hope to see you all at Camber.

Actually, quite recently... Chiswick, Swinging the Blues, back when it was proper Blues, January 2005.
Dark, crowded, hot, sleazy - I loved it.
I'm not aware of any other regular venue like Berko, at least not in the London / Home Counties area.
Basically, it's got two unique advantages:
- Layout - the main room and blues room are next door to each other so it's easy to pop in and out. Which benefits both rooms, and means you don't suffer the dreaded "Empty Blues Room" syndrome.
- DJs - Ian, Marc and now Rachel on the decks, an abundance of DJ-ing talent
Yes - good point. I'm constantly amazed by the amount of effort Marc and Rachel put into getting the lighting work.
Anyone who thinks DJ-ing is just a case of turning up and playing a few tracks should watch the amount of effort they put into getting the ambience and atmosphere just right.
Well, there's the dedicated blues class in Peterborough, and Sunday afternoon freestyles at Wetherby at the end of each month. Lighting at Wetherby was great

stb 2005 might have been my first real introduction to blues too.

Not my photo, far too professional for me
I can see the resemblance though...
Use to be my regular venue. Since moving all of 25 miles away haven't got my arse in gear to pop down recently

I would drive an hour to get to Berko.. i love everything about it and im so happy that Scarface loves it too.
The only downside for me is i can only get there every other sunday..... drag i know and sometimes Sundays are so busy we cant even manage that but then i know when we do get there, it makes it even more special.
50 minutes on a good drive (not many of them recently because of the M1 roadworks) and about 40 miles on 2 motorways but definitely worth the journey as it is a consistently good night, always leave with a smile on my face. Mark, Rachel and Ian never disappoint in the blues room. It is a great way to end the weekend
