Band on the Run---------Wings
Band on the Run---------Wings
I only listed artists on my first attempt........
sooooo, I s'pose if I were stuck on a desert island these would be my 'must haves'..........
In Through the Out Door - Led Zeppelin (every home should have a copy)
Jugula - Roy Harper and Jimmy Page
Transformer - Lou Reed
Costello Music - Fratellis
Goes To Hell - Alice Cooper
Back to Black - Amy Winehouse
Bat Out of Hell - Meatloaf
2nd to None - Elvis
and not forgetting A Christmas Gift to You - Phil Spector.......I put this in the car every year come December 1st.....you can't help but sing along when your driving!
My list is
Shakin Stevens - Every album he has done (seriously, I grew up on the Shakster, have met him a few times, Once played a few songs with him in a bar and own every record he has made (brought by my parents back in the day))
Shakepears Sister - Hormonally yours (first album I brought, was about 16sh)
The Beautiful South - Carry on up the charts
Nirvana - Nevermind
Guns and Roses - appetite for destruction
Squeeze - Greatest Hits
Michael Jackson - Bad
Crowded House - Woodface ( Where I got the name from )
Neil Finn - Try Whistling this (singer from Crowded house)
Radiohead - The Bends
Teddy Thompson - Separate Ways
Snow Patrol - Eyes Open
Damian Rice - O
I know he's Mr Weird but 'Off The Wall' by Michael Jackson - nearly wore out the stylus on my hand-me-down all in one portable turntable amp and speaker.
And Elvis is still the King
I forgot about that one.
When I was a kid I had to share a room with an uncle (we had to eat gravel for breakfast etc...) and I played all his albums while he was out and Squeeze - 45's and Under was by far my favourite.
That led to a bit of an obsession where I bought all of the Squeeze albums I could find.
That led onto a love for Jules Holland's music which developed into my love for big band music and now my sporadic attempts to learn Lindy Hop so I can dance to it! (one day, hopefully )
Yeah I got that as well - and my fav. Squeeze songs are:
- Black Coffee in bed (produced by Elvis C. and you can hear him wailing "no milk, two sugars" as the track fades out
- Tempted
- Pulling mussels from a shell
And of course, Labelled with love - telling a life story with an economy of words.
For any fact fans Up the junction is only one of two songs to get in the top ten where the title of the song is only mentioned as the last line of the song. The other one is Virginia Plain by Roxy Music
Also there are only two songs ever to get in the top ten that mention Camber Sand. Pulling Mussels from a shell being one ("They do it down on camber sands, They do it at Waikiki" (I assume they don't mean Ceroc Weekenders)) and the other song is Heavy weight Champion of the world by Reverand and the Makers
Pulling Mussels is written about the time spent in Camber on holidays and is the only song in chart history where all the band and vocals come in on the first beat of the song !!!!
