Haven't figured out this multi quote thing yet.

I too am obsessed with KOL and am seeing them again this year - will be third time this yr, 5th time in total - hmmm, definite obsession, sooooooooo hot though and love their music, especially the first album.

Gogol Bordello are soooo great live - discovered them through a friend then saw them at Glasto then the Carling Academy in Bristol. I defy you to see them live and not enjoy them - gypsy ska punk is ace!

Other obessions of mine I guess are Bon Jovi - although I could no longer defend them when they brought out Crush. They were the first band I ever saw live though - Milton Keynes Bowl 97 and they were FAB!! Another one is Wham! - I love it when my requests for them get played at freestyles

Some interesting, and not so interesting, albums and artists on this thread....

Some of the albums I couldn't live without:

Tom Waits - Nighthawks at the Diner (although have never listened to it since I found out it wasn't recorded in a diner...)

Aphex Twin - Selected Ambient Works 1 (close to genius, what I hope heaven sounds like)

The Divine Comedy - Promenade (literary pop perfection)

The Blue Nile - A Walk Across the Rooftops & Hats (the sound of the city at night, been known to reduce me to tears)

Miles Davis - Kind of Blue (a cliche perhaps, but still the best jazz album ever)

Japan - Tin Drum (for the look almost as much as the sound)

Strange list, in that I'm a soul boy at heart, but soul never really (Marvin Gaye excluded) lent itself to albums.

I saw them there too, but I can't remember whether the show I went to was in 96 or 97, it was the one where Iggy Pop was on. In my opinion Bon Jovi put on a really good show and don't stint their time on stage.
if you love the life you live then you'll get a lot more done

Well, I'm in the corner with the Jethro Tull fans. Also Fairport Convention, whose Cropredy festival I have been to 19 times in 21 years (does that count as obsessed?! )

But I also love Evanescence. I particularly love their Fallen CD, which I've played regularly since I bought it.

Seconds Out is my favouite Genesis album that I grew up with.

I was a big Cure fan in my more gothic youth, along with The Mission.

I love jazz, though prefer it live.

Anything involving Timbaland is my current 'obsession'. And I'm currently, belatedly, getting into AC/DC thanks to a certain someone.

    Several bands I love -

Funeral for a Friend (seen them live 5 times and love them)

    All American Rejects

    New Found Glory

Lostprophets (though Ian Watkins is overly pretentious, but he still puts on a good show and you cant help but go MENTAL to this )

    Fall Out Boy

    Jimmy Eat World

Bon Jovi (Jive-vee after Crush they redeemed them selves with Bounce..AMAZING)

    Blink 182

    Senses Fail

    Mark Knopfler (Dire Straights)

    ZZ Top

    Linkin Park

A fine choice !! Meddle is a fine album indeed. Technically very different from Dark Side of the Moon. I love the entire B side spanning "Echoes" and the fantastically energised "One of these days"

Ah, I don't think that was my one then - we had a local band, Gun and Joan Osborne. Bon Jovi put on a fab show - 3hrs with only a brief 5 min break, they were very, very good live and a great first live gig experience He had a very nice bum too haha

Back in the 80s I used to listen obsessively to two Iron Maiden albums in particular: Somewhere in Time and Powerslave. I still rate them as two of my favourite albums and still listen to them a lot, although not obsessively any more. The solos on Caught Somewhere In Time are awesome!

Ojh yes, and Iron Maiden are still my favourite band. More than 20 years on, they just keep getting better. I'd say their most recent album (A Matter of Life and Death) is their best yet.

I grew up on Elvis and still listen to him most of the time even now, much to the despair of Jivejunkie, lol. You'll never get that sort of impact again IMO.

Led Zeppelin, Alice Cooper, Kiss and Nazareth have stayed with me from the early days........along with Stiff Little Fingers and the Sex Pistols.

Aerosmith, Loverboy, Motley Crue, Guns n Roses and Meatloaf from my rock-chick era :wipes away a nostalgic tear:

I love George Thorogood, Ruth Brown and JJ Cale for the bluesy stuff amongst others....

as for current music selection it has got to be The Fratellis.......fantastic band
Elvis...obsessed! you're right there!! I suppose he was a good singer! Ruth Brown's OK, but I still think Fratelli is a type of pasta.

I can't really decide on a favourite artist, it's more like a particular song for about 2 weeks, then I gat fed up of hearing it. I suppose Billy Fury has to be in my top 10 somewhere and probably some stuff nobody has ever heard of

Artists are all over the place...

    Albums??

Pink Floyd: "A Collection of Dance Tunes" which were anything but!!! Even as a young kid, the ironic title appealed to me. Was where I first heard "One of These Days" and "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" (abridged).
Master Of Puppets still stands as a great album.
The Number of the Beast was my first ever album (that I bought myself: my parents bought me "Kings of the Wild Frontier" before then), and it was always going to go downhill form then on...

Possibly the most complete side of an album (from the old vinyl days) would be side 1 from "Misplaced Childhood". Thoughts?
