How come no one ever owns up to being a Roller ?

    I used to play Sparks over and over;

    Sparks - Kimono my house
    Sparks - Propaganda
    Sparks - Indiscreet

    Later:

Pink Floyd - Dark side of the moon
    Mike Oldfield - Tubelar bells
Barclay James Harvest - Live Tapes

After that it all gets a bit wishy washy

Amazingly Barclay James Harvest now have 2 mentions. One of my best friends at school always used to get ribbed about liking them. When we met recently, we decided to acquire the Greatest Hits - and I was surprised when the first track was.......passable 'Mother dear'.

Do you have the duet he did live with Marianne Faithful ('I got you babe'). I got it from Napster - in those golden days - and I think it was on a South American TV show - not sure if is on 'disc'. It's now on YouTube though - and worth a watch.

    Favourite all time Bowie track?

For me......'Helden' - the German version of 'Heroes' - the video is good as well.

Probably the best list so far................yes!

Especially Blue Lines - now that is one album which works all the way through - definitely in my all time top 10.

And Lemon Jelly............ yes! When I arrive in a new country, I always put on 'Rambling Man' as I travel from the airport - to get me in the mood. They are witty, engaging - and also got a mention on the (ahem) wildly entertaining blog via one of their more obscure tracks (Experiment No. 6).:

Ceroc Mad Jive Lad: Search results for jelly

Never heard of Michael GFaranti - but will check out based on the fact that all the other artists you have listed are top drawer.

PS Favourite Zero 7 - is the absolutely essential remix of Lambchops 'Up with the people' - see hear - for some aural delight:

From back when God was a boy, and I was a little girl with an influential big brother – Next by The Sensational Alex Harvey Band (1973). They were one of the first bands I saw in concert – blew me away.

Acquired by chance, subsequently leading me into my love of Jazz Funk – Those Southern Knights by the Crusaders (1975).

Moving on in a similar vein. We All Have a Star – Wilton Felder (1978) and Winelight by Grover Washington Junior (1980). Surely everyone (of a certain age) has this in their record collection along with Sade’s Diamond Life (1984).

I’m with JiveLad re Nightclubbing by Grace Jones (1981).This and several of her other albums were heavily featured during the mid eighties.

More recently, before I stopped just listening to music and preferring to dance to it (!), White Ladder by David Gray (2000) and Dido’s No Angel (2001) and Life for Rent (2003).

Ian Brown walked past me a few weeks ago when I was waiting for a bus on Willesden High Road!!!!!! I was so shocked to see him in this setting, of all places, that I smiled and winked at him! hahahaha!

I wouldn't say I was ever really obsessed with any band/artist in particular although I did have a tendency to always buy every album out by specific bands (I think it's more of a collecting obsession as I do the same with authors I quite like).

Particular albums I've loved over the years and still enjoy:
Tom jones - Reload (great for singing out loud to)
    Tift Merrit - Tamborine
    Ash - any
    Coldplay - any
KT tunstall - eye to the telescope

but really i like anything i can sing along to as generally I only really listen to music when driving or cooking (Michael buble's tracks are pretty good for this although I do have a tendency to start dancing and wander off from baking dropping flour everywhere).

All this Dark Side of the Moon talk is bringing back bad memories - about 5 years ago when I was living in Southampton, the guy who owned the flat below us drank himself silly then passed out whilst listening to that album full volume and on repeat When you've heard it over and over and over and over and over again (you get the idea) from about midnight on, it kinda gets on your nerves a tad

I think that Meddle was Pink Floyd’s best album, not as well known I know, maybe because it’s linked to certain memories

That is what I like about dancing - and the forum. You can discover things/people you might not otherwise have encountered.

Currently listening to Michael Franti - 'Song from the front porch' - perfect for a warm sunny chilled out late October afternoon. Not a million miles from Jack Johnson - with more depth perhaps/stronger vocal.

Anyway - another 3 albums follow: Everyone deserves music, Stay Human, and Chocolate Supa-Highway.

    Thanks!

I alas, was a child of the late 80's and reached my impressionable years when the likes of Bros, SA&W and The London Boys were in the charts. I used to listen to "Push" by Bros over and over at the age of 13...

But I was raised on Huey Lewis and The News, Queen, and Genesis. Saw the latter at Twickenham stadium in July 2007. They were out of this world!!!! - and beat my favourite previous concert (Iron Maiden, Metal 2000 at Earls Court) hands down.

I was seven rows back from the front, quitre easily the best live music I have ever heard (although my ears were still ringing 24 hours later). Not quite an obsession but certainly the experience of a lifetime
