Well, I can now personally vouch for this. I have seen - well, if not a full cycle, but a complete turnabout.
I have just watched a TV advert in which John Lydon - Johnny Rotten? Purveyor of Cheap holidays in other people's misery, who saw no future in England's dreaming, the anarchist who was the self proclaimed anti-christ, banned from BBCTV for swearing at Bill Grundy, banned from Radio One, that John Lydon - selling Country Life butter.
It's going to take a while to get over this. No amount of dayglo album covers and torn cheesecloth shirts with safety pins is going to console me...

Well he is current being sued for battery as per this case (see below). I believe one of the women involved in the case was a certain Elizabeth Botter, known to her friends as Betty Botter. She had bought some butter for Britains bestest brat but the butter bought was rotten, so he battered poor Betty who then brought a battery case after our brat failed to console her and butter her up.
