    Blue Shoe Glue

OK - so the shoes aren't blue, and the colour is irrelevant but 'Black Shoe Glue', just didn't have the same ring to it.

    I broke my shoe. Again.

Nothing major, but the leather sole has parted company from the heel. Again. And it's left a couple of small nails sticking out, which would make me very unpopular with any dancefloor owners. And we're teaching tonight. And my spare shoes do incredibly nasty things to my feet if I wear them for too long.

    So.

Anyone recommend any good types of glue for fixing issues like this? I'm going in search of a cobblers this lunchtime, but I need a backup plan...

You need rubber contact adhesive (like Evo-Stick). You also need to follow the instructions to the letter. It doesn't seem right letting both bits dry BEFORE you press them together, but it works mate!

    Re: Blue Shoe Glue

    Dr Seuss goes Dancing

    The (Stray)Cat in the hat
    Hobbled to a cobbler
to buy some Blue Shoe Glue

To The Hobbler asked the cobbler
    "A Cat in a hat?
    Who'd have fancied that?"
What can I do for you?

Said the cat with the Hat
(who was a bit of a wobbler
due to the lack of a cobbler)
    "How do you do?
Do you have Blue shoe glue?"

"Is it needed to fix a hole?"
"No it's needed to glue a sole
"I do not want to sound so thick..
but have you tried some evo-stick?"

    "No I've not tried evo-stick
That would not do the trick
To fix my shoe all that will do
is to buy some glue a bluish hue"

    I'm sorry dear cat
    but I do not do
    a sticky glue
    a shade of blue.

At which point a smurf did pass
and call the cobbler a bluist ass
with a growl and a shake of an azure fist
the smurf did call the cobbler a $%$&*!ing racist.

    "Now now!" pleaded the cobbler
to the smurf and the hobbler
This is not what i mean to do..
to pour derision on all things blue
but you see blue shoe glue is something I lack
on account of my soles all being black.
but head my advice and listen here.
Both evo stick and UHU are perfectly clear

    So the smurf departed
and the cat took the hint
    and bought some shoe glue
    (albeit sans blue tint)

You really do have far too much time on your hands.

    Loved it though.

You have only two pairs of dance shoes?

    Solution: Buy more dance shoes.

The famous Arris Allens, yes. My fault, I think - I've been abusing them a bit too much, including walking outside in the rain in them. Daft, really.

I own about five pairs (still not many, I know) - but over the last year, have completely gone off my Blochs (all three pairs) - the whole split-sole trainer thing no longer suits me, I think. Which leaves me with the AA 'running shoe' - lovely shoe, but I bought a size too small, and overuse causes me serious foot problems. And my AA Captoes, which are the ones in question.

Anyway - I found a cobbler who reglued the heel for two quid, and I'll buy some evostick or UHU for emergencies. Problem solved - so thanks to everyone for all the advice! (and poetry. And puns.)
