Misnomer - Love the way the word sounds and I have met a few misnomers in my time (can't name and shame though)
NON-SMOKER....
mmmm i know its not strictly a word but i love love love the sound of it cause thats what me and Scarface are... NON-SMOKERS....
I love living in a mixed Scottish/Irish flat as we regularly pick up on the different words we have for things, and even a few that are almost but not quite the same.
Two recent examples of good Scots words:
sook [sook] - to suck, to suckle, a teachers pet
scunnert scunnered ['skunnert -d] - disgusted, bored, fed up, have ones hopes or expectations shattered
Interestingly, the Irish have a similar word that means the same, but for some reason they stick a [d] in it - scundered - and I just don't think it has quite the same ring to it!
(Note to any pedants out there - I've deliberately changed the pronunciation in brackets from IPA to layman's terms as not all the symbols were displaying properly.)
warmth
After 6 weeks without it, it's great to have it back through the radiators and hot water taps.
Canapé - The complaint of the penniless Scotsman
"Tarmacadam" - To thank the first ever Scotsman
Twenty is my fantastic word today, because that is what DT will be giving me in pounds...
Incorrigible
adjective MAINLY HUMOROUS
An incorrigible person or behaviour is bad and impossible to change or improve:
an incorrigible liar/rogue
Mainly used for those that spout incredibly bad jokes
Whitetiger
Any of the words on THIS list are just brilliant!
I rather like petrichor
