Right oh sport fans I am running a new event in Biggleswade.

It is in me front room and it only costs £200 to come. Strictly on a pre book basis and very limited numbers, ie 1 in 1 out total no of people in venue at any time is 1, so it will be exclusive, very exclusive.

Hope to see you all there to support this trial event, if succssessfull, others will follow.

Is it going to be gender balanced?

Would that be me, or the event?

These days you can do an even simpler version -- like this salsa one -- that only needs minimal computer skills, e.g. http://www.davidsugarman.co.uk/PartyMap.kml - Google Maps

I was going to suggest a Google Maps mash, but I see from this example that it's already been done. This would be a perfect solution to dance nomads like Twirlie Bird and me! Plug Google Maps into UK-Jive.co.uk and you'd be onto a winner

    Re: "Who's going where?" threads...

Would be interested to hear what people would like as information for such a map?
This may, or may not have happened recently to a total Ceroc beginner:
Find ceroc website, wonder what's the difference between the main website
Find out there are lots of copies of the website template for each region
Take a stab at the closest region via venue location link
Estimate best region (oh darn, you're on a region border, looks like you're going to be checking multiple regions too)
    Click on region
Go through big long text list
Refer to ropey geographic knowledge as to likely distance/time to get there
Fire up another browser tab, open map
    Copy postcode into map
Go back to list of venues, repeat
    Scratch head
Look at pictures to see which venues nearby look nice
    Flip coin
Write down postcode into satnav/paper/postit/print instructions to get there
Get lost trying to find venue
remember to add 30 minutes getting lost next time you try to find a new location
Remember the usefulness of Google Maps Street View, wonder why it isn't used
    Get there in the end
    Have a great night
    Get back home

    A fuzzy warm 2011 version:
    1 link.
Sends you to google maps (though this it's viable to have this embedded into any ceroc page)
Boom - you can see where all the venue locations are
Zoom in to see which are closest to you
    Click on any to give:

Basically the website tabs (Venue News, Timings, Price, Travel Info, Parking, RR Crew, RR Gallery) as sections in the map placepin popup panel

    - Venue News
    - Venue address
    - Big bold post code for satnavs
    - Link to Street View (so you can see where your destination looks like, because we don't trust just solely using a postcode. (xkcd.com/461/ bit.ly/dEd9vR )

    - Class info (weekly? what day(s)
    - Venue info
    - Pricing, maybe a web link to a promo
    - Link to gallery
    - Contact information
    - Contact information as a vcf (if you've got a fancy smartphone - boom, you've got the contact info stored. No need to type it all out)

Yes, it'd be looking at google, and linking to the ceroc pages, rather than the other way round - but might have merit.

Half tempted to do a rough google maps My Map to demo it.
    Anyone interested in collaborating?

I have told the powers that be that Ceroc venues should be registered on Google maps. Its free. In most areas a search on Dance class and town name will not get a Ceroc venue on page 1

Franck, as usual, is a star exception. e.g. http://bit.ly/eMzCai

Others do it better than Ceroc
