HP SWSETUP - what is this?

I'm hoping someone can help me...

I have an HP laptop (that's not the problem!)... and my C:\ drive is down to having only 1.64GB (6%) of free space.

I've been moving files to my other directories to allow for more space, but to no avail. What I have found is a folder called SWSETUP that is the size of 2.81GB.

I guess my questions are... what is this folder used for? and would I be creating a problem for myself if I were to save it to my portable back-up disk and delete it from my laptop altogether?

(hoping that someone out there can help )

It's a folder used by HP for the set-up of the laptop - drivers, wireless and so forth. It's basically the same as a temp folder, so you can probably delete it. It is used for things like application recovery - so it can be useful. I would keep it unless I was desperately short on disk space.

    HP software setup.

I think it's where the drivers reside for the preinstalled software. I wouldn't delete it as then you wouldn't be able to repair the installed drivers etc. if it was necessary.

Why not ask HP ? They offer email support, have a forum etc.

Yep - checked their "help" options and there wasn't anything specific to my needs (as is usually the case with resorting to using "help").
I took a look at other "geek" forums and they've said stuff along similar lines... but again nothing terribly specific.
Thanks for giving me some assistance as to what it's used for
