Dave the Counsellor? Who'd have thunk it!

So you've dealt with one addiction, now just your addictions to; cigarettes, caffiene, dancing, sex, sparkly shirts, male and female wobbly bits and alcohol. Not too far to go then

After doing my intermediate course in counselling, I put off the idea of taking it further. I had to blag my way onto the course, as you were supposed to be 24 at least to join, and I was only 20 at the time. Now a couple of years down the line, and im thinking about it again. Working with adolescents appeals to me more than the other forms, but then, they are about the only group of people that would take a young'un like me seriously.

All the very best mate for the future!

I've come to this thread late as usual, but congratulations, mate. You'll be the Dobermann's danglies, I'm sure.

Just don't try to counsel any of us out of our addiction to dancing, ok?

Wow. I'm impressed. My ex is qualifying for the same and he said it's tough - that whole analysing yourself bit was incredibly difficult for many people on the course.

Best of luck and keep us posted with your progress

    But it will be free.

Psychiatrists have to be analysed and analyse themselves before they can start studying.
Best of luck and keep us posted with your progress

Aye aye sport fans just back in from my 2nd night on my course and it is so very hard.

This course is self revealing, it is self analysing and this is very fatigueing. looking into your deepest darkest self and not liking what you see there is kind of scary really.

I am emotionally drained, truly drained, seeing yourself in a truthfull and honest light is draining.

Still a bit of internal conflict and suffering is good for the soul.

Dave you should be very proud of what you are doing. Stay strong honey and be brave as you look inwards. It will all be worth it.

I have gazed into the mirror of my soul and seen the beast that resides within.

Is it frightening or merely just frightened?

It can be a very liberating experience, and one that I found very scarey whilst undergoing my training, and also empowering to know that you can come through so much in life, and live to tell the tale with a smile on your face.

The most powerful excercise for me was creating a photograph, mind blowing is not the word, but so good to know that you can reach the other side safely.

    Good luck on your journey.
if you love the life you live then you'll get a lot more done
