    The Genie arrives in Oxford...

... and is already bogged down with work. I've just moved into halls (don't ask, or the rant will be never ending) and begun my PGCE in primary education. But despite the workload, I am determined to pick up ceroc here (I haven't danced properly since before Christmas )

Anyone here from/near Oxford? I have a choice of three classes - Oxford, Abingdon or Cowley...

If you tell me which you are going to and when it is on, when you get going I can come to visit - My sister lives in Witney. I'll be down in October and if you haven't started then I'm sure I will be down again - it would be good to get to CEROC on my holidays as well as work days

Personally, I prefer Oxford (the townhall on Wednesdays). It's a good venue, with a good floor and a good group of dancers. Cowley (on Monday) is a newish venue and still growing. It's a bit more hit and miss in terms of how good it is and I don't like the floor. I've only been to Abingdon a couple of times. I didn't enjoy it as much, but it was OK. It's a hassle for me to get to, which is the main reason I don't go there often.

A lot of people dance at two or more local venues. I'm sure you'll enjoy whichever one you chose to do.

There's also a facebook group, if you want to join that.

    I'm Oxford area as well.

I second what Geoff says - best mix of dancers go to the Town Hall on Weds, plus everyone goes for a drink in the pub afterwards.

Cowley venue I quite like (best floor for spinning), although can seem empty as it's a large club and they're still building the venue up. You'll see similar people at both the Oxford venues.

Not been to Abingdon as it clashes with Bicester which for me is closer to home.

Alternatively there's Kidlington which is a short bus journey from Oxford. The dancers tend to be a bit older there though, and there's a few issues with the DJ.

Central Oxford is much younger group of dancers, and funkier music.

Hope to see you there sometime.

Not all your pals are in Scotland honey. Will have to meet up with you sometime soon. Oxford isn't that far away.. just a train ride in either direction. Just an hour or so

Be nice to see you again sometime.

Thanks Guys. Looks like I shall be giving the Oxford one a go then, this Wednesday.

WhiteTiger, let me know when you are about, and I shall be happy to meet up with you

Thank you Geoff. I shall take a look at that, and maybe see you all there (I'll be the tall, skinny one with dark brown hair looking completely lost).

Beo, yes we shall have to meet up sometime. My free time is very limited though, so well have to plan it well. Miss you. Hope you and the lovely lady are doing well (give Louise a hug from me, will you)
