According to the Telegraph today (Why rubbing it better makes pain go away - Telegraph) scientists have discovered the optimum way to rub someone.
Professor Francis McGlone (Liverpool University) led the research - which discovered that if you rub a sore knee - that it really does make it better.
Working with researchers in Sweden (where else?): "he found the most pleasurable way to touch someone was to stroke at around two inches per second across the skin and applying pressure equivalent to a third of the weight of a five pence coin."
I wonder how they measured the 'pleasure' - and on which parts of the body they tried it out.
Apparently, he is also working with Unilever to create an artifical finger.
Oh - and he is also a supporter of the 'hug a hoodie' idea.
Did they do Oral rubbing too?
Well I think they started with rubbing (knees and arms) - then in Sweden, the research moved on to 'stroking' - with a specially designed camel hair brush.
At that point, I imagine (guess) that they moved on to other parts of the body - although I am sure it was all above board.
I've been experimenting with this on my own body - and found that the rate of 2 inches per second is about right - and, with some variation it can bring a lot of pleasure. I will send the results of this experiment to the Professor to help with his ground breaking research.
Simple answer to part 1 = Blues danceI wonder how they measured the 'pleasure' - and on which parts of the body they tried it out.
Part 2 use your imagination ( better activate the imagination filters for CheesyRobMan )

Totally agree that rubs and strokes go a long way to relieve tension, both to give and receive. I do believe that research has proved people with pets to stroke are not so stressed and places like old age homes, etc have people that visit with dogs to bring a bit of the feel good factor.
Carry on caressing that's what I say
This explains a lot.. for years I've been rubbing people up the wrong way
