My Blochs lasted about 6 months, leather shoes are still going after 2 years (except for a new pair of laces) and are much more comfy for wearing all day. More expensive, but better value!
I'm slightly baffled as to why so many instructors seem to recomend blochs - I know quite a few teachers who use trainers with tape or suede on the sole for comfort without too much grip.

I got a cheap (<£10) pair of canvas trainers from Asda (because I was looking for a cheap pair of trainers rather than anything else)... arrived late one evening and didn't change my shoes, been dancing in them for months now!

It also saves my decent dance shoes for special occasions and floors that don't have the risk of glass, gum or beer spills

I bought two pairs of trainer type shoe on friday eve one was the bloch stealth (thanks andy for recomending them) and the other were Freed urban.
I tried the stealth on a very fast floor at St Albans on friday night and they were fantastic just the right amount of control for me
Trying the Freed on saturday (another fast floor stevenage) and found them too fast so i went back to the Bloch Stealths which once again i found to be great.
Looking forward to trying both tonight at Bishops Stortford which by contrast is a much slower floor and chelmsford tomorrow night again a slower floor than either of the two at the weekend

I see they have a "Highlander"
