Re: Who's going where? Weekend 5th/6th/7th September 2008

Decided to go up to the WCS event in Petts Wood, Kent yesterday (Sunday).

It was a really good night and possibly the friendliest night I have ever been to.

The place itself is a lovely function room at the rear of, what I believe is, a small hotel/bar.

The size of the place is just about right for approx 40-50 people although there were only about 16 there last night. Apparently numbers fluctuate up to about 40.
The actual room itself is very ornate and provides good acoustics for the music. This meant that the music quality was clear.

As I said the floor was a good size and was comprised of temporary flooring both for the section that remains down permanently as well as the additional flooring that the organisers lay each time
The permanent section was quite sticky last night but apparently this was unusual. The rest was absolutely fine.

The music was good. A few tracks in there that I wouldnt have personally used for WCS but these were in the minority. Some classic wcs tracks as well as some new ones made for a good cross-section.

Finally, the people that were there were so friendly. This all started with Steve and Gaz who were actually running the night. They made a point of introducing themselves along with the others there. This made it feel like a really welcoming environment. What also impressed me is the fact that Steve spent the entire night dancing with those who were a little unsure about the dance so as to provide pointers. It is this kind of commitment that will help WCS grow and succeed. Respect

I would definately recommend this night for anyone interested in dancing some WCS on a Sunday. We will be back in 2 weeks time hopefully.

Well, Berko last night was lovely - tiger played a blinding set in the Blues Room, and the Main Room music was also pretty good I thought (Joe was the DJ I think?).

The only problems were that there's never enough time to dance with people, and that sometimes the floorcraft in the Blues Room was a bit dodgy. The new Blues Room floor also seems to be coming along nicely.

    Great night.

.....really was a good night and agreed I also didn't get time to dance with all those that I wanted to either . Tiger, I did get a couple from you, thank you, and like DB said your set was blinding .

Sahara Dreams were breathtaking and Mikey loved it.

It was a great night, down on numbers because of the awful weather but 2 great djs playing music, with Gazza in his element!

I got so soaked in 10 sec walking 10 mtres to my car that from my head to my toes it was like a river. I went back and changed, so I understand people not venturing out.

I agree, best night at Berko (which is always good) for ages. Had really great dances, was good to meet the The Boss, what a fab dancer, though we have danced before, I did not who you were.

The music was soooo good and thanks Tiger for playing my favourite song (becasue the night) made my night.

    Lastly love the new floor
