Leroy (Satchel) Paige (1906-1982)
Mickey Mouse's girlfriend, Minnie, made her film debut, along with Mickey, in "Steamboat Willie" on November 18, 1928.
That date is recognized as her official birthday.
Pulse isn't on the poll for Saturday . . . .
That's where I will be.

Cant wait, Woo woo
theres a freestyle dance in Dorking tonight
at Friends Provident by LeRoc Surrey
Whilst I am sure that Martingold will make a concerted effort to dance with all of us - we could definitely do with a few more men to join in the fun. Any takers ???? The Essex Girlies and the Trouble Sisters - who is up for the challenge ???
Lots of dancing this weekend
Friday nite at Warrens Deca Dance in Brighton, lovely old school nite club feel, haven't had a chance to go since the opening nite.
Saturday nite, Utopia's Midnight at the Oasis, can't be bettered as its right on MY door step
Lastly Sunday , CJ's workshop and mariachi freestyle
Can you beat that for a weekend of dancing (apart from SOUTHPORT ofcourse!!!!!)
Sat - Pulse at the TA Centre - Nottingham
And the taster session first is.....TANGO!!!!!!!!!! Got to try that!
Went to St Neots last night (the first place I ever attended an MJ freestyle ~ memories ) and had a good night. It was v hot and the music was pretty dire but still had some great dances with Sparkles and caught up with some people I haven't seen for a while.
Giving Utopia a miss tonight - all that bare flesh that's likely to be wobbling around the place Have fun y'all and look out for ZW's camel
As always I had a good night. There was enough good music and and plenty of "must dance with" ladies, but I spent half the tracks cooling off.
St. Neots Priory venue is delightfully set overlooking the river and meadows. Its downside is that it is going to be as humid as it can be. That, combined with the numbers, made it too hot for me, even with all doors open and six powerful fans and blowers going.
I met up with one special partner who rarely attends, and filled in some back-story, and that made the night unforgettable. For the first time I can recall the time spent off the dancefloor with two under-the -weather ladies was more significant than what happened in the dancing.
Update - apparently the Berko floor is now fully fixed and replaced, so it's all systems go for Berko on Sunday.
Does anyone know if WCS at Petts Wood is on tomorrow?
Ware/Friday....was really disappointed on arriving to find out that the blues room had been double booked ..having said that it turned out to be an enjoyable evening tho..
..Berko was very quiet last night, where were all the regular Berkoers? Probably stuck on the M25!!! (M1 was closed due to flooding ), only managed just over an hours dancing myself, by the time I eventually got there
A load of us braved the M40 (which was clear!) to Oxford for the Mariachi nite...which was absolutely fab.
As a fan of the "full fat version of Mariachi I was slightly concerned that Mariachi lite would be too lite for me...I was wrong and thoroughly enjoyed it.... Hats off to you CJ I think the balance worked really well and I am hopeful it may encourage those who don't like the "full fat" version to consider giving it another try....
