Weeee not long to go now!!!
I'm sure Rachel Stevens will do very well with her having dance experience anyway.. she should pick this up ok.
I can't wait to see Anton Du Becks smile again either! He really lights up the stage.. and what a lovely ballroom dancer! I'm sure he'll do better one year.. he doesn't really get the top ones does he! I danced cha cha and foxtrot with him in blackpool two years ago.. he kept calling me poppet! What a lovely chappy.
Yay Strictly is back on tv today!!! 6.30pm BBC1 (Pre-beginning introduction show!!) Can't wait!
I quite enjoyed it, actually, it started to help putting some names to faces, getting familiar with all these people and so on; let's face it, with 32 contestants we need all the help we can get.
Some surprises, too - a few of the contestants looked better than I'd imagined, some looked worse; shows how first impressions are usually wrong. Well, except in the case of John Sargeant...
I enjoyed it too! It was nice to properly meet the new pro dancers and all the new contestants!! I also loved the recap of last years show!! It was an amazing series last year!! But after the show could not wait to see some dancing!
I'm voting for Austin after watching tonight. He's flippin' gorgeous and fit as fek.
Oh...his dancing ain't bad either.
John Sergeant was good as was the smug git (some doctor actor or something?), but I think Austin will be the one to watch.
I'm not sure about Andrew Castle though, I didn't really notice him. Can't think why
Please put him out of his misery .Originally Posted by Lou

Anyway - just to let you know that there's a new thread for result spoilers here:

As I know some people don't like spoilers, so this means folk can still natter about the show here without fear of seeing any result. But those of us who have no willpower can see what's happened.
He was miles better than I expected but does anyone else think he's like a male version of Jo Brand?... its uncanny to me!
I can't imagine he'll be much cop at the latin dances though
Gosh, I was cringing to the point I couldn't even bare to watch!

Yes, I was surprised - pleasantly - by John Sargeant too; he actually looked like he was enjoying himself, his expression was exactly right for a waltz, charming in fact. In fact, I think he was undermarked.
Yes - my goodness, where did they come from?
Other competitors:
- Phil Daniels was rubbish beyond belief.
- Austin Healey was surprisingly good
- Don Warrington also rubbish, I didn't even see any signs of "a sense of rhythm" that was alluded to.
- Gary Rhodes - rubbish again. There's a theme developing here...
- Tom Chambers - excellent, really really good. For the first dance, he looked fantastic; I reckon he also was undermarked.
- Mark Foster - meh. Not a patch on the real one
As for the girls, yes Anton's got another challenging partner there...
Heather Smalls looked good, as did Rachel Stevens and (surprisingly) Jessie Wallace - her body-roll thing was very sexy. None of the others stood out for me.
Overall, I wonder if the standard is worse than last year? I don't remember that many dances being in the so-bad-you-want-to-hide-behind-the sofa category last time...
I think the standard is similar to last year - it's just that you forget the first month or so until the hopeless cases are removed - and we didn't have anything 'quite' as bad as Fiona Phillips. Can't wait for Mr Rhodes to leave - poor Karen.
With the girls, my fave was Cherie - thought she has amazing legs & was the only one I noticed in the opening of their dance ... then I think she was swept to the back of the crowd and the cameras hardly showed her again. She has a real presence.
