Surely thats the point - what the media seems to push is that "all men are potential paedophiles" and even if statistically it IS mostly men, it IS sometimes woman. Perhaps a realisation that the problem is not any worse than most other crimes, and, if no special hysteria was reserved for this crime, the country would be a happier place. If you read the Daily Mail you'd get the impression that paedophiles were suddenly created as soon as the internet became popular, just like Sarumans Orcs in Lord of the Rings.
As for teachers and school employees avoiding even getting too close to pupils - i can't see how bringing up children to socially, distance themselves from others is going to be good for society ! In the late 90's we turned many schools into massively fenced fortresses after the Dunblane massacre, now we've added "trust no one ever" regardless of which side of the school fence you are on.
It does now - "soft data" has been added so that even a hint of an accusation from a pupil/child that doesn't like you, can be enough to ensure you never work again.Originally Posted by Lee
Sounds like an argument similar to "violent computer games make people violent" to me People are what they are. Although I see where you are going with this - yes our children would be safer if we put everyone in solitary confinementHow many do it as an impulse thing? Maybe working in these professions close to children is more likely to bring it out in these people. Just a thought.
