The conventional Barbie is quite big and once the burgers etc., started cooking it was fine, it was that we had a lot of people arriving together.

This time we wont have the extra gas one, so we will need to supliment with the disposables - I will buy one as well as bringing back the one from June, however without the rocks (which have now gone) we need some where to place them when cooking - anyone got any ideas (other than the ground)??
I am changing what I am to bring.

I have two large 3KG bags of charcoal from Sainsbury's. Last longer coal. The bags are quite large so I don't think I can fit any more in my car. I also have two large disposable barbeques and some firelighters. All were 50% discount at Sainsburys.

Also I know someone who should be bringing a barbeque.

You can get little stands for the disposable BBQs. We'll bring one 'cos it's sitting in the garage anyway (and of course the official forum BBQ).

No idea what food we'll bring - we'll see what inspires us on the Friday.

I thought I captured a quote from ducasi anyway be great to see you

I am going to get some pre-cooked stuff ready, so you can nibble on stuff if there is a wait for the barbie, however now we have quite a few disposable ones so hopefully this wont be a problem.

We do need something to rest them on now the 'rocks' have gone - so if anyone has any ideas (the bricks one from Lynn was good) please add to this thread.

Not long to go now !

    Re: Southport Sept08 BBQ

Thank you everyone for your kind words to me personally for the Forum Barbie.

This year it was as good as ever, a big thank you to Nick who manned the cooking of the food most of the time with a little help from Wes at one time

I listened to your comments and prepared some 'non-barbie' hot food to save you waiting - hope that helped.

No Barbie at Skeggie in Feb as will be too cold, but all being well we will have it back for sunny June

Thank you all for your generous contributions - we only had some saugages (as usual) and crisps (some which I brought into the dance area to share on Sunday) and we only run out of buns

This time I had lots of helpers at the end to help me clear up .......... thank you sooooooooooo much for your help, especially as I had a couple of accidents during the afternoon (thanks also to Dave & Ellen for taking the BBQ back home for safe keeping)

And last but certainly not least, thank you to Wes and John for helping to make this Barbie extra special and for John for having a word to him upstairs for yet once again making sure it didn't rain and was even SUNNY !!!

    See you all in Skeggie
