How did you find your dance partner?

I am a very keen intermediate dancer and wonder how others went about find a regular dance partner.

While agree with all those that say dance will as many different dance partners as possible, I am looking for someone to practice moves and dance regularly with.

I suspect this is an issue many male dances come across. That for practice moves, partially dips and the like, you need a practice/dance partner. It's not something that you can learn in freestyle, as woman general want a fun time dance after the classes, not practising. I can full understand that as after all we are here to have fun.

I would be very interested in every ones views and tips, thanks in advance.

Step one, pick someone you dance well with, and ask them if they would like to get together with you and practice some moves.

Step two, arrange a time and place to practice (your house, thier house, or a local church hall or dance studio)

Step three, video yourselves and see how it looks.

Step four, ask a more experienced dancer (that you respect) if they could come along and offer feedback

If step one fails, then find someone else you dance with well, ask them, and go to step two.

    Good luck

Dance with everyone and who ever you get a good dance connection with ask if she is interested in a bit of training and just go from there.
You will find a good connection with a few people, but not too many.

When it happens you will know about it mate.

For me, a regular dance partner can be found in different ways.

I think everyone will agree that there are certain faces you see again and again that you dance with and love to dance with them for that reason.

I don't have a regular partner in the case of somebody I meet up with to practice. I think you learn better and develop better dancing with different people.

I am sooo with you on this and completely understand how you feel!

I dance once a week as there is only one class on a week here. I have a young family and find it hard to make it to weekenders although i will always make it to Blaze!! Lately i have been quite impatient about the speed of my learning so have decided to start private lessons once a week along with my normal class. Granted not quite the same as having a regular partner to practise with but better than nothing. I only hope that my extra lessons will help me to Jazz up my dancing with any partner, in turn, making the desire to seek one regular partner a little less.
