    Refusals - amusing or bemusing?

After being turned down twice by different men at the same freestyle recently:-

    1. "Sorry I never dance"

    2. "Sorry I am having my tea"

I just wondered what are the funniest refusals you have had when at a freestyle, feel free to extend this to areas of life outside of dancing.

    Cheers

Re: Refusals - amusing or bemusing?

Most bemusing time to ask, was at the start of a freestyle, myself and the event organiser had just sat down and started to eat our meals, having not had time to do so before, due to setting up after a workshop.

A girl came up, just as the event organiser had his fork halfway to his mouth and asked him to dance
He politely said he would, once he had finished his food.
I kept my head low and concertrated on cutting into my juicy steak, to no avail, because she then turned to me and asked me to dance

Another bemusing time, was when I walked out of the venue to cool down in the open air, and got followed out, with a request to dance

At Uni, I even got followed into the gents, just as I was unzipping, I heard this female voice "would you like a dance"

The crucial question is, was that before or after unzipping?

Your account seems to be a little vague on details there for some reason...

On that topic, Ken's listed a set of excuses here:
From Modern Jive to Tango - Excuses

Ironically, all from the "friendly" atmosphere of MJ, and none from within AT.

Come to think of it, I don't think I've ever had a "No" from AT either.

I dance this track with 'other' people.

It turned out that it was an 'our' tune fro him and a girl he had just split with and he rushed off to find her.

this comment is more common than you proberbly think, I get it all the time, but then thats not surprising.

There were a lot of people that changed towards me when I was in a relationship.

It sometimes takes me a few dances before my brain gets into gear - I sometimes won't seek out one of the very good dancers as my very first dance of the night. (Although I probably wouldn't refuse if asked either.)
    Love dance, will travel

I've had a guy point to his "sandals" .... nothing was said.

I've also had "I don't dance to popular music"

Re: Refusals - amusing or bemusing?

One evening, I was refused a dance because the female in question preferred to watch two of the better dancers in action, which considering I am now of ten years experience is mildly amusing to hear.

and of course, the obligatory 'I'm having a rest here'

You'll be pleased to hear that I avoid her like the plague now at any other events.

Re: Refusals - amusing or bemusing?

At Camber (non-ceroc event) I had my worst refusal ever. Mind you, there were about 50 women to every man that time.

Me "Would you like to dance?"

Numpty "F*ck off, I haven't stopped for an hour, I need a drink"

I wouldn't mind, but he was a rubbish dancer, all sweaty and bouncy, but the the men were so thin on the ground, I was getting desperate and asking everyone, even the plebs.

Ready to be shot down in flames, but I would have thought this a reasonable thing.
Sometimes it is a joy to watch a good couple dancing.

Yes, I have "posponed" before, due to wanting to watch a couple dance.
The normal being "I am just watching this couple dance, can we have the next one?"

    Is that so bad?

I'm the opposite. I like my first dance of the night to be with someone really good to get me up to speed fast.
