The Lancastrians didn't even have a Lancastrian leader, Henry Tudor was Welsh.

(I can't claim the metaphors as my own originals because they are common sayings in Yorkshire).

Forgot to add the wonderful Wensleydale cheese.

Ok, your folk memories run much deeper than mine (for me the past is the past and usually best forgot).

That's not at all bad, but I do prefer my weekly dollop of Lancashire crumbly from Morrisons. (And did I mention they do 1.5 litre bottles of own brand Scotch - definitely quantity over quality for this old sozzler.)

    They do in Peckham

Being an ex-army child, I don't really come from anywhere - so maybe Gypsy Tart for me?

I spent many years in Kent though, and I consider it to be my pseud-home - so I'd hop across with some good Kentish Ale...whitbread too! and maybe some Whistabubble Oysters...or Dover Sole?

    But not in Bakewell.

    Is Whitbread a Kentish Brewery?
    and maybe some Whistabubble Oysters...
I've eaten them in that resturant on the beach at Whitstable. [quote]

Never heard that, must try ordering guiness that way.

"I'll have half a blonde in a black dress please, with a shamrock decoration".

    Is that champagne with Guiness?

I like a whisky chaser with my Guiness, but oddly enough Scottish whisky. And a bit of cheese. Lovely.

    What about Colcannon? that's tasty

The blonde in the black dress is just guiness on its own. Guiness and Champagne is 'black velvet' ,but why would anyone desecrate a good glass of champagne or spoil the smoothness of an ice cold glass of guiness in that way, mind you I don't understand what shandy or putting lime in lager is all about

Colcannon is delicious with HP brown sauce, and I like to add a fried egg all mashed up with the potatoes and cabbage.

If you love both, but can't decide, then it'd be killing two birds with one is stoned

I've never tried Black Velvet, but tend to agree with Rubyred.

I've tried Bucks Fizz and it is a great drink, especially if you don't want to get too drunk.

But if it was Cristal champage, it would be sacriligious to dilute it.

A lot of people say the same about a very good whisky or brandy.
