As the scots and welsh dont call themselves british why would the english??
    (runs for cover )
Some do, you can consider yourself British and Scottish at the same time but Britain was always run from London so its fairly obvious why English nationalism tries to keep up with Welsh and Scottish rather than leading the way.

So that when English people (e.g. football hooligans) do something bad, they can hide behind the Brittish banner. Or when Scots do something good (er, struggling for an examle here), they also can be part of a great British victory...

Anyway, why is there no "white-immigrant" option for Poles, Scandinavians, Aussies, etc here...??

Yeah, but Wallonia or Flanders? It's becoming increasingly important to be specific.

Probably a bit of Saxon, Viking, Norman, with mostly Roman (as I tan easily).

Going back a fair while, lower part of Scotland - near the wall, as I understand. [not the healthiest place to live, at that time]

As to colour, depends upon the time of year...

Growing up I was called English, in later years I have been called many things!

or "mixed" as that says nothing specific about your skin colour, only your ancestry. This poll is self-labeling too of course, so if you think you are something then who's to say you're wrong ?

A bit like steve martin in " The Jerk" where he grew up with a black plantation family thinking he was black also?

Oh! The pain! The pain! Someone make him stop! Won't someone please think of the poor numbers!

Just imagine. If olympic medals were recorded according to the ethnic origin of the athlete, the US would not be top of the medals table.

Er, Rangers followers in Manchester in May.....

I am sure I am not the only one pleased to see them out of Europe at such an early stage this season.

No ... it would be great to see them in Europe (across the water) .... just not anywhere near Manchester I don't think any city in their right mind would ever welcome them again.

No. I think the most appropriate location for them is 5.85 degrees West, 55.45 degrees North.

(roughly the mid-point of the North Channel, between the Mull of Kintyre and Country Antrim...)
