Can trace my family back to the Boer war where the Zulu;s kicked the sh1t out of us.
Can trace back to when we kicked the sh1t out of the Normans.
Goes back to when we kicked the sh1t out of the Romans.
We seem to be involved in a lot of sh1t kicking, sometimes we win, sometimes we lose.
100% Pure breed, the blood line has never been contaminated, my parents were closely related, they were brothers, keep it in the family.

Yeah, yeah.
Hold on, that's weird, we've lost a Chinese person somewhere... I'm sure we had one, now he / she's gone. Mind you, we've gained a Scottish person
I'm also now wondering whether I should change "White - British" to "White - English", but then what happens with the Welsh? Argh, this is why I didn't want to change the options.![]()
Does it make a difference to your stats whether a person is White - British/English/Welsh/Scottish/N Irish/Irish?
What about White European, North American or Australian?
You need to know what sort of information you want out of the survey before you design the questions/choices. What part is important - whether a person is white/black/mixed race in their colour or backgroud or their cultural influences? Should people vote based on their genetic make up or the country/culture they were brought up in and identify most with?
And you're missing S America - which if you have an interest in comparing with other dance styles such as AT and salsa is surely relevant?
Well, I originally voted "Chinese or other - other" which was the closest equivalent to White - Scottish at the time. It was also the only equivalent to the obligatory silly option. Which one of those I was emulating - well the silly option obviously. And then I subsequently withdrew it, but subsequent to that, failed to drum up the enthusiasm to vote for anything else.
Anyway, off to Facebook to deny the ventriloquism slurs again.
David - you talk about wanting to compare the demographics of different dance groups (although you aren;t quite sure how you will get all the data).
Now - assuming you did have this data (and asumming it was a representative sample) I'm really interested to know what you would do with it - or what is the meaning to you?
An easier way to do it, is simply to go around the different places. Even within Ceroc/MJ there are massive local differences - compare say Haywards Heath (almost exclusively White - but one Russian) with say Chiswick - probably the most ethnically diverse I have experienced.
And your poll is not fully representative anyway - as there are many other people from a wider ethnic base. (At least who I have danced with...).
Well said, Lynn! I've already tried to point all this out to him, but maybe he'll listen to you.
He's already said, he only wants to compare the demographics of different dance forms.
The question you want to be asking is "why?"! Why does he want to know? I'd be very suspicious of his motives, if I were you...![]()
Yes - I read that 'demographic' response. I was wondering what 'action' he would take (ie what he would 'do') as a result of performing this demographic analysis. For example - would he write an article for 'Dance Monthly on the ethnicity of dance forms in the UK (2008)? Would he go to Hyde Park corner and explain the meaning of it to an enthralled audience? Would he look at the under represented ethinc groups and write to them to encourage them to dance? Would he......well........?
I dont see white english in the pole or welsh for that matter
As the scots and welsh dont call themselves british why would the english??
(runs for cover)
