    Dancing in London 18 - 27 August

    Hi all,

I'm going to be in London 18-27 August doing some drawing courses which are going to leave me with plenty of time in the evening for dancing (oh and possibly socializing with my brother and sister in law...). Can anyone recommend any classes / freestyles? I'll be based in Vauxhall at night and beside Tate Britain by day, so anything central or south would prob be best.

Would be lovely to meet some of you forumites during my stay. Looking to dance MJ mainly, but if there are any particularly friendly wcs classes, that would be of interest too.

    Thanks in advance!

Well if you're in Vauxhall, Clapham is only one stop away on the train - Monday and Wednesday nights (though not the bank holiday Monday). If you plan on going and want forumite company, pm me and we'll see what we can do about meeting up (don't think we've met when I've been up in Aberdeen, but could be wrong).

Have just started going back after a six month absence (used to be my regular venue). Have been having a fairly good time the last couple of weeks, although it's George's last night tomorrow as teacher, so not sure what it will be like after that as not familiar with the new teacher. Used to attract some very experienced dancers (as George's classes are a b!tch!), but apparently it's become really quiet (ever since I left ). One big advantage though is the air con if it's hot or humid - last week was very hot out, but not too bad in. Oh, and has free water too!

There is also Putney on Tuesday nights - also has air con. Think that Tim still teaches there, and he's a very good teacher. Has an excellent floor.

    Hope that helps

Hammersmith is on the Saturday. You won't want to miss that.

    Saturday 23rd August.

Victoria Line tube from Vauxhall to Victoria, then change @ Victoria to district line to Hammersmith or Ravenscourt Park (nearer)

Probably also worth checking out the Jive nation venues for Central London:

Fulham would be great for Thursday.

You get 2 hours freestyle from 9-11pm.

A lot of good dancers there too.

Our Queen was spotted there this Thursday.

Take the tube from Vauxhall one stop to Victoria.

At Victoria change to the District Line. Board a train with Wimbledon on the front.

Get off at Fulham Broadway and it's at the Town hall opposite.

NB. If you go to Hammersmith on the Saturday board a District Line train with Richmond or Ealing on the front.
