    Any Dr's Nurses out there?

I think I might have just broken a toe and wondering wether it is worth a trip and couple of hours wait up the hospital?

Im guessing there is nothing that can be done if it is broken? Anyone know?

I am neither a doctor or nurse, but can tell you I did sit in the A&E with my son when he broke his little toe to be told there was nothing much they could do. They bandaged it against the next toe for support was all.

It was a few years back mind you.

Sorry can't be much more help. Wish you a speedy recovery.

Aye aye my lover, having broke 23 bones in me old body I am offay with this. Like Jay Jay said just keep it clean strap it to the next toe and take pain killers. I found with my broken toes that Ibrufen gently rubbed into them helps a lot. You may get pain higher up in the foot rub Ibrufen there as well. Keep off it and in time you will be well again. A trip to a Pharmacist will not go amiss. If all this fails grow a moustache and get a job as a NCP car park attendent, a limp is essential. Trouble has a weekend job at a car park in the Abbey, she already had a good moustache. DTS XXX XXX

You could try phoning NHS Direct on 0845 46 47 to see if they have any advice.

Unfortunately Lee there is nothing that can be done. Strap it to other toe if ya can but this sometimes makes it more painful. Take painkillers and rather than waste time at E& R nip to docs tommorow he will be able to precribe a stronger painkiller whilst it mends.

Ice it and elevate it as well. Remember the first aid aid memoir RICE:

    Rest
    Ice
    Compression
    Elevation

That should help to take the swelling down and so relieve the pain. Hope it gets better soon.

I had what I thought at least one maybe two broken toes ( a badly executed kick) and waited for hours in A&E. When they finally saw me they said ,we are not going to bother to xray as the procedure (as mention above) is the same broken or badly bruised

So I wouldn’t waste you time

A friend broke a bone. I don’t know which one

They decided to ignore it. It did heal, but they ended up with a limp

So they went to see doctor. Sorry he said, too late now

Re: Any Dr's Nurses out there?

Years ago I took my son to the Royal London Hospital A&E. (never again, went elsewhere before and after)

    He was about 10.

After a four hour wait in the children's department they x-rayed his foot.

    Said his toe was broken

Put his foot and leg in plaster.

Gave him an appointment at the out patient clinc for the next day.

At the clinic he saw another doctor who looked at the x ray and said his toe was not broken. He called someone to remove the plaster cast.

This begs the question, if broken toes are not treated, was the A&E doctor an even bigger fool for putting a plaster cast on his leg?

Hey up, what are you saying about the Greeks? You wanna be careful boy us Greek's don't take kindly to such comment!

TBH I live in fear that as I age I will develop a tash! I have pictures of an aunt of mine, and if you line them up in chronological order you can see the tash develop over the years!

going against all the advice that seems to be offered here I would suggest getting it checked out - if it is seriously out of alignment and heals that way could leave you with future mobility issues - if it is not well aligned they can manipulate it to get a better alignment
