Injured Seagull

There are certain species that can be humanely trapped and killed under a general licence. (Don't think you'd want to eat them though. I have had pigeon stew - but that was in an African village!)

Roast pigeon is lovely with veg and a bit of gravy. So is collared dove. There's a traditional English dish called rook pie that is made with - you've guessed it - rooks. I've never heard of anyone eating seagulls though.

Eating seabirds certainly used to be common in the Scottish Highlands, read a book recently about the Isle of Rassay and a seabird stew was mentioned.

Well Karma works in funny ways. Saved the seagull but run over a pigeon on the way to the new forest.

And in the past I've eaten seagull eggs.. I was a bit dubious about the legality of them at the time but when the local RSPB guy was seen tucking into some as well I thought the chances were they were ok.

Apparently you just have to make sure they're from the right species.

You also have to make sure you're not eating eggs from birds that are scavenging in dumps, near sewer outlets and chemical plants.. for obvious reasons.

They taste like ordinary eggs.. The whites tend to be clearer and made great sponges.
