Looks like quite a few of the Midlands crowd are going to Halsowen on Friday for the party night, nibbles and a late finish.
Not dancing this weekend, my brothers surprise birthday party on sat. should be fun.
I'm now off to Kidderminster on Saturday.
To anyone who is thinking of coming to the Belvedere on Friday 25th July....
I feel the need to point out that this charity dance at the Belvedere Club is NOT being hosted by Patricia and Nikki, they are merely providing the music for a worthy cause. There will be dancers there of course but it isn't to be mistaken for one of their freestyles.
IT IS STRICTLY TICKET ONLY!! Please do not just turn up on the night or you will probably be disappointed
Patricia and Nikki will be hosting a freestlye there in a few weeks time and that will be their same usual excellent standard of dancers and music.
Just thought you should get the information before venturing out.
For all those about Manchester this weekend, as part of the Urban Moves Festival there is Tango and Salsa live music, classes, milonga's and freestyles all over the city this weekend. Google Urban Moves Festival for more info, it sounds like a great day out.
if you love the life you live then you'll get a lot more done
I think I will dance at The Purple Party at Sara White;s on Saturday.

Fri 25th - it's my local Chesham.
It was hot. For the first time ever I was reduced to dancing only about 50% or less of the tracks. I was very much in bounce mode, so neglected the "smoothies", there was enough room to dance in my frenetic fashion and I had a great time.
In cooling off outside I did take the time to cross the road and examine the posters for the "Summer Holiday" event tonight at the Bedford Civic theatre (sat 26 july ). It is definitely something I have not seen before. It seems that one group of attendees will be driven around Bedford in a big red bus with the PA system playing the music from Sir Cliff's "Summer Holiday" whilst another group of his fans will be watching the movie. When those two finish there seems to be dancing. The publicity seems very poor. If tsh had not posted I would probably never have known it was happening. This event sounds like it would test my desire for supporting the new and different to its limit.
Went to the Charity dance at Burton on Trent last night. Great to go to such a friendly venue. Music was top notch. Some great dances with old finds and new ones! Great to catch up with Itsybitsy and Fruity Oranges again.
Only downside which I think affected all dancers last night was the heat.. definitely not dancing weather!
Well worth it tho last night and all for a good cause...oo and I won a bottle of vodka in the raffle
I enjoyed the Skool Disco at Hammers, it didn't get too packed which was good, so there was space to dance and for the air to circulate. I had some great dances, thanks to Filthy Monkey, Groovy Dancer and Russel Saxby, just to mention a few of the guys I don't dance with often.
Thanks to Russel for being my partner in the 'fun game thingy', we won!
Berko was quite quiet tonight, which was just as well in the heat but they had the fans on full blast... which ended up having rather an embarrassing effect on my dress!
It was nice to see a few new faces from up north!
Some photo's from Hammers.. inc. Filthy Monkey and Jammie

I went to Edinburgh party on Saturday night which was really quiet and very hot so didn't have the best night, but got to meet the lovely lulu baby and Monty which was good!
However, the chillout party at the Beach Ballroom on Sunday night made up for Edinburgh. I had a fantastic time, the music was great and I had some amazing dances, oh and there was cake of the lemon variety, mmmm, my favourite!
Just by chance, last night I had a conversation around a selection of cakes that involved the "lemon variety". At our Smooth Sunday we always have cake. We usually buy cake at M&S or Tesco: sometimes people bring cake as their entry fee. As I was putting the shop-bought cakes on plates a regular said "that lemon one will go first, it always does". Then another regular brought the biggest, home made 4 layer, lemon cake you've ever seen. Both lemon cakes went and I threw away more than half of the Tesco Finest Toffee cake.
So, the burning question of the day has to be.
Do dancers prefer lemon cake?
p.s. Is this the forum equivalent of a slow news day where "Cat stuck up tree" gets on the front page?
I have to agree. I think she's lovely and does an excellent job of living up to her name
Skool Disco was great fun. One of the best freestyle events I've been too, which I'm sure had nothing to do with the number of women wearing short skirts and fishnets...
After almost 6 years of dancing in London, it was my first ever time in the Hammersmith venue and I'm kicking myself for missing out on previous events. What a great place! I went on my own and was a bit worried that I might not know anyone, but all of the regular faces were out in force and I had so many good dances. It ran until 2am, but somehow that still didn't seem long enough.
Thanks very much for posting the pics, Lory. They're fab and only slightly embarassing
Damn!! Must speak to David B about turning the fans up at the next Hammersmith event

I'm surprised you are out of detention already - after what you were up to in the Headmaster's office.
I know who you are now Filthy Monkey and I must say i had my suspicions.
We didn't dance at Hammersmith, but we have before.
In fact you have kissed me before too - on the cheeks - facial cheeks - blimey, gotta be careful. He's a perfect gentleman really.
[quote=sunnybunny;489024]What was he up to in the headmaster's office? 40 wacks with the authentic cane?
The Headmaster was soooo authentic.
Did anyone kick him? There was a note pinned to his back.
