Interesting to see Esther Rantzen wading into this - and her new book about growing old 'disgracefully'....article in the newspaper today.
"There is a streak of rebellion in my fashion sense," she announces in her new book about the adventure of getting older.
I had to laugh, when alongside the article was this photo:

....not exactly rebel-du jour......imho.

I wouldn't agree - plenty people manage to take care of themselves AND be happily married. Its a myth that people only try to be attractive because they are looking for a mate, I would say its often coincidental born from self-confidence.
Yeah, its not like we're sentient beings or anythingIts natures why of get them ready to attract another mate.
I don't think Lorys Mum "let herself go"
I did say there were exceptions. I was making a general sweeping statement which I still believe to be true.
I have seen so many couples I know letting it slip when their happy & content and then when they fall out & split up they make a huge effort and look years younger.
Perhaps it’s not so prevalent on the dance scene because we are a more social lot that care about our appearance and there are less couch potato’s amongst us.
For the record Lory your mum looks exceptional for her age.
See what I mean - here is a 32 year old happily married lady who lives round the corner from me. Husband does not look much better.
