    big brother is great ?

Watched a bit of Gordon Ramsays F Word last night - usually an interesting program - and it was quite funny. It finished, we were talking and then...Big Brother came on and we were suddenly fascinated by a group of social misfits Dr Moreau would not have entertained. A few more minutes of open mouthed wonder turned to enlightenment...

Big Brother is TellyTubbies for adults! They live in a big colourful house, they all sleep together in a big room, the "voice" tells them what to do, they all gibber incoherantly and bicker like children... I didn't see roaming rabbits outside like in the TellyTubbies but it wouldn't surprise me if there was maybe a hutch. I also never heard the voice announcing that the toast was ready, but I wasn't waiting around...I assume its inevitable.

So anyone actually watch this program? If so why? And has it been on long, as there seems to be a lot of TellyTubbies in the house? I thought they executed/evicted/whatever some of them?

I watched some of the earlier series. It was interesting to see how a group of people interacted in such an artificial setting and there were some 'characters'. I've worked on various short term teams where I've stayed away from home for a week or so in dormitory type conditions, all cooking together, working together etc, and it was it interesting to observe what patterns of behaviour were similar and different to those experiences.

But of course they have to keep changing it to make it 'interesting' and get more and more bizzare people in. And the people are much more camera aware and contrived.

It was always artificial, but is now extremely so. (Not that I have seen any of this series but just from the way it was going in past series.) I guess people watch it because its still about real people, no matter how 'planned' it is, people's real feelings and reactions come through. And people are fascinated by other people, if only to be able to think 'well I'm not as mad/extreme/argumentative/silly as they are'.

Half way through there abouts. Stopped watching after the first eviction when it seemed obvious that the show is watched solely by female perverts *ducks for cover* and that this year will see another male winner for sure.

Never saw last years' BB but before then I used to watch every day, even highlights of people sleepin...

I'm really enjoying this series. They seem to have chosen fewer attention-grabbing-muppets this time. And those that were chosen (like Dennis & Alex) seem to have evicted themselves, anyway. There's some interesting group dynamics and game-playing going on.

And it's a bit of local interest. *shrug*

Anyone who has seen the voting history over the last 8 years will know I'm right.

A good looking blong girl will never win.

(Oh & Kate Lawler winning was just a male stand against this issue. Nadia wasn't!)

I've only watched it about three times this series, not because I don't like it, just because I've had other things to do!

Rex is the person I think I'd most get on with. I'd probably kill Bex and Luke within a day of being trapped in the house with them.

And IMO, the woman who's partner got evicted, has got the most amazing body, that she fascinates me!

I'm sorry ! you've confused this thread for a thread on the "merits" of Big Brother. Please, either be utterly disparaging, or bugger off. Thankyou

She is so fit! You just have to see how much she's done on the cycling task.

But her make-up scares me. (And that's saying a lot from a goth).

This week is the finale for the Australian series this year - and apparently the last one too! (the adverts add the words "last BB to be shown on this channel") - and I'm so looking forward to seeing the back of that show.
I'm hoping the other TV channels in Oz are wise enough to spend their money in better ways.

We had a Big Brother thread once, that was boring too - but not AS boring as the TV version.

Better, but I was meaning be disparaging about the program in general, not the telly tubbies on it - if i didn't know you better i'd think you were actually watching it

We had a whole Big Brother forum, once. But I think DJB ate it.
