That's awful!
Can you please pass on my good wishes and also that I hope that he has a speedy recovery.
Thanks,
Janice.
Bad news, just found out early this afternoon:
Nigel Royle was out on his bike yesterday and was hit by a car, the collision shattered his pelvis and he's currently in Glasgow's Victoria Hospital awaiting a hip replacement.
I'll print off any messages of support that may be posted and take them up when I visit him tomorrow.
Lots of forum members will know Nigel but for those who may not know his name, here's a wee picky.
BTW, the bike's OK

Hi Brian,
Please pass on the very best from Fabienne and I, sitting shocked in the office together.
We were actually talking about him the other day and wondering if we could persuade him over to RHB with a lift offer next week because we didn't think we'd ever seen him there.
Please pass this on and maybe it'll be something to look forward to in happier times.
Please can you ask if visitors would be welcome?
thanks ever so much
Cassandra and Fabienne
What awful news. Please pass on our best wishes. Are visitors allowed? Hope you're up and about relatively quickly, Nigel.

That's terrible news, give Nigel a huge hug from me, Brian.
Hope everything goes well with his op, and that he's up and about soon.

Please pass on my best wishes and hope for a speedy recovery.

Update:
Before I let you all know of Nigel's progress have any of you heard the old wartime joke:
Signal: "Urgent! Send reinforcements, we're going to advance"
the message goes through several signalers and eventually is received as:
"Urgent! Send three & fourpence, we're going to a dance"
Well, something similar happened over Nigel's message, which came originally from Billy (Nigel's friend) to Jean, who passed it onto Alison, who then passed it onto me and a few others.
Anyway, here's what really happened (straight from Nigel, while Jacqui & I were visiting this afternoon)
Nigel FELL OFF his bike (he asked me to make that clear) while bumping off a pavement and over the kerb at an acute angle, it was damp and his front wheel slipped on the road surface and over he went - simple as that.
His pelvis is fine but he did make a mess of his femur which is now pinned and bolted together, he's been up walking already and is expecting to be out of hospital on Monday but won't be dancing for a while, nor hill walking with me & Bill.
Here's an X-ray of the damage, straight off Nigel's phone, and compared to a healthy femur you can see what a mess it was in.
I printed of and passed on all messages of support, both open & PM, to Nigel; and Sheena, Jacqui gave him a huge hug for you

My dad had a similar accident about 20 years ago and i remember the trips to the hospital, although i remember my dads music stand (big metal frame that stuck out that was holding his pelvis together) which is probably why.
So i can sympathise, i hope everything goes ok and you are back on your feet ASAP
Keep smiling!!!
very gentle cuddles are being sent your way!!
I just read this thread and just wanted to pass on my hugs to Nigel also.
Could people up there pass on my regards from a 'holiday buddy' from London.
Nigel, come back soon. xxx
Ouch Nigel - that must have hurt!
Sending plenty of s your way.
Get better and back dancing soon.
Lots of love
Whitetiger
