I wonder what will happen. I think 6 years (is that the max.) would be a bit harsh. Of course, there is the issue about respecting the laws of a country in which is 'hosting' you.
Of course, it seems that the newspapers just focus on the 'brunette' - isn't they guy also facing charges? (I think he is in one report I read).

She was drunk, she was having sex in public, and she assaulted a police officer. In Dubai.

I heard that the police had come along spotted them, warned them and asked them to move on etc etc.
The police came back a while later and lo and behold they were still at it.
If someone gives you a chance like that don't you say "Thank you" and go indoors and shag?

This woman's main crime is one of stupidity - the crazy thing is this isn't some drunk over-excited tourist, this lady actually was living and working in Dubai for the previous few years.

If you read the individual newspaper reports, they were given a warning and asked to move on.
The decision was made not to heed the warning.
When the officer came back, he had little choice left.
Of course she knew better, having worked there for 3 years.
If you blantantly disrespect the culture/laws of the country where you decide to live - and do it in public - get given a chance to modify your behaviour or "take it indoors" - continue to be disrespectful - then what do you expect to happen?
In fact, a lot of respect for the arresting officer who did not imediately arrest them, but gave them a chance.
What did he get for his troubles - he got assaulted!

Dep, stop whining. I often give rep (so far always positive) and don't always think to sign it as I assume that if people want to see who it's from, they'll cough up towards forum upkeep.
So in this case I'm afraid it's a case of pay up or shut up!
