For what it's worth, have a big hug from me too
Just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone who was at Utopia on Friday.
It was my first time there and it was brilliant. I came up with the Brighton crowd (Warren, Kyron etc). I'm sorry I didn't get to speak to many people (too busy dancing) and I didn't get anyone's names but if I danced with you, thanks so much - every dance I had was excellent and if I didn't, I'm sorry to have missed you. I'll try and catch you next time!
It was so nice to dance with so many men who were actually listening to the music as opposed to leaping about completely oblivious to any beat that happens to be passing through.
I also discovered after I got home that I'd caught a thread on the bottom of my dress at some point which meant I must have been shedding small silver beads all over the floor all evening so if you were on the receiving end of one of them I do apologise. And if you collected any, could I please have them back as I have a big blank space on the hem of my dress now.
See you all in August
Friday's Utopia had a very special guest (my fave top US pro) Kyle Redd, which brought all the Westies out (more than usual)
Although he didn't arrive till about 11pm - it was lovely seeing Kyle just dancing with everyone and having fun (shame Sarah wasn't with him) he came with Lee Easton (a Utopia virgin) and a couple of his line-dancing friends
The music was fab ( Rocky & Foxy) - and proved you don't need specific WCS music for the westies to do their thang.
Was lovely to see Rob May there too, and I think he is coming back for August, although he said he felt a little uncomfortable as he didn't do WCS (hmmm - he is such a fabby MJ dancer, what is he worrying about )
Good mix of people, great atmospher - the VDV trio did it again

Leroy (Satchel) Paige (1906-1982)
Mickey Mouse's girlfriend, Minnie, made her film debut, along with Mickey, in "Steamboat Willie" on November 18, 1928.
That date is recognized as her official birthday.
Lee's been there before.
I enjoyed the music more than last time and there was undoubtedly a lot of variety in what was played. And '4 Minutes' still sounds utterly incredible played over a proper system
He certainly shouldn't feel uncomfortable, he was looking on good form from where I was standing. There were a lot of good leaders there, come to that. Personally, I couldn't believe how easy it is to feel rusty when you stop dancing so frequently. Thanks to Spikey Blond for restoring some faith even if it was about 10 to 1 by that point

I thought aerials were no longer permitted at Ceroc venues? Or does that not apply if you are the current Ceroc champs in that category?

Thanks Lynda, Rob and Lory for your lovely comments. Had a fantastic night at Utopia which was down to three major things: 1) absolutely wonderful music (Dave & Vince - you guys rick); 2) superb ladies to dance with, many of which I'venever even met before - thank you to you all; 3) feeling relaxed with my dancing - probably because I hadn't been for 3-4 months or so.
The night went in a blink of an eye.....and there were loads of people I didn't manage to get a dance with :-(
I only get a little nervous when there are alot of WCS dancers around, not because I don't think I can 'cut it' around them, but more because there was some great WCS music played and I have this natural feeling like I should be doing WCS to it. In the handful of classes i've done, I've loved the feeling of gliding to the music. I need to prioritise my life and get myself to some WCS classes cos it looks and feels so great!!
My apologies, uncomfortable was my word not yours - it was how I interpretated your comment. However, it was a joy to dance with you as you are such a fab dancer whatever the music is.
Look forward to another (or two ) in August
Really, never seen him there before, however, I have missed one or two. Do hope he comes back for moreOriginally Posted by robd

Well, Tango Al Fresco was lovely - the weather was ideal, the women looked gorgeous, and it was great to see and chat with people in the daylight. The flooring was excellent, and the music was varied - and I even got asked to dance
The demonstration was superb, lovely to watch.
Why doesn't Ceroc do these type things? I'd definitely like to go to a MJ open-air event, there's something special about those when they go right.
Anyway, I took some photos, and I've put them up here.
Weather permitting, I'll return on the 10th for the second round...
