people advertise that they are away at the weekend and what they are doing at night ... and this amazes you? Who'd have thought on a social networking site people would let other people in their network know what they are doing socially. Shock Horror Eek etc...Are you amazed at the sun coming up in the morning too ?

Phil's point, and I think it's reasonable, is that a lot of people are extremely careless about giving out all sorts of private information to the world. Whereas a lot of us (say, those over 30) were conditioned to protect our online information, a lot of younger people seem to be far more open and sharing of personal data - for example, relationship status, contact details, and so on.

Still, at least "Philsmove" has some relationship to his actual name

No it isn't - he's talking about a social networking site - by definition - it SHOULD have information about where you are and what you are doing.

Whats careless about having personal information on a social networking site? security is a big issue, but facebook are quick to get on top on any security issues that have come up. The only people seeing your information, are the people you want to see it. Also, a lot of personal information is in the public domain already - where you live (electoral roll), how much you paid for your house(registry and any one of 100 websites), where/when you got married and to who (registrar) etc...

Still, at least "Philsmove" has some relationship to his actual name
We're talking facebook here not forum People who use fake names on facebook should be banned from it.

I am with the weather we're having currently.

No you're not - it gets lighter than at night doesn't it ?

Depends. I mainly use it as an address book.

It depends how open you make your profile, surely?

Then it would be more helpful if people would add their addresses - even I don't have that, but my mobile number is there (yeah you probably meant email addresses)

If anyone has their profile open to people who they have not been added as friends, then they deserve what they get .

Report them - its the only way to stop this sort of silly behaviour - Facebook "should" ban them if enough people report the abuse.

True, but better if you've had enough sleep and don't need to go to work

On Facebook? I didn't even know they had things for sale. I've only ever seen services advertised - eg if you have that you are single you will get ads at the side for dating agencies, I have Christian listed as religion so get the occasional ad for church website design companies.

quite right - theres a time and a place for made up people and comedy, and a facebook fake isn't needed - whats wrong with the Dalek Fred support group on facebook ? After all, Dalek Fred is NOT A REAL PERSON (or mutant).

Course, if Dalek Fred joined this backwater yokel ridden corner of the internet, I'd have no objection whatsoever

Hmm, one-handed leading, and it'd be interesting to read his contributions on the subject of spinning

Hmm, he would put Axxy into the shade in terms of class control - no problems with pesky inattentive dancers coming back the following week

    Spinning is irrelevant

    Daleks do not dance

I will be exterminated when Franck realises there's a Dalek on the forum

    Re: Facebook Friend or Foe?

    now class...class? class?

y'know theres a marketing opportunity there - why aren't Domestos sending in the Daleks in an advert to exterminate germs..

..perhaps because they can only claim extermination of 99.9% of germs probably, an unacceptable statistic for the superior daleks..
