Just one more reason to move to Scotland...go on, you know you want to
Aye aye the London Low Emission Zone is now in effect and as I do a fair amount of work in London it is costing me about 5K to bring my lorry up to scratch.
Now if a vehicle affected by this charge does not meet the requirements a daily charge of £200 is payable.
If this is not paid by midnight of the following day after vehicle has driven in the zone, a fine of £1000 is payable.
If this fine is not paid within 28 days the fine goes up to £1505 and issued to bailiffs. If you get 3 fines, and you dont pay them your lorry will be seized next time it is in London, and not released until all monies owed are paid.
If this is then not paid they come around and shoot you in the head.
I am telling you London has gone mad it is turning into a different country within the M25.
As mentioned earlier I am having my lorry upgraded to make it compliant until it is done I will pay the £200 daily charge.
In 2010 this will apply to large vans over 1.025 tonnes.
In 2016 it is all going to change again.
Is there anywhere else in the world comparable with this?
Is this country turning into the ultimate Police state or is this fair?

Dave - you could always use one of these, you could pack loads of stuff in that top box I bet & you don't even have to pay congestion charge!

The small box is hardly practical given the need to carry scaffolding
This one has a bigger box for that and is going to be used the Chinese Olympics so it must be good. Remove the hair from the 'model' in the pic and i can picture DS on the M25 with it now
