My laptop is at the end of it's life too.

I am seriously considering a smart white Macbook.

Does anybody have one of these?

No, only the batty or the bewildered have white macbooks .

Actually my wife wants one, especially after the dissapointment that was the ASUS EEE (poor keyboard, screen too small, poor cpu - and it was supposed to be white but we got sent a black one...bah)

One thing to consider is the size. It used to be the trend for laptops to get smaller and smaller. Now though, things are going the other way - and oversized laptops are all the rage. The advantage is that the you can see the text very clearly and they can be quite stable on your lap. In fact there's a new one which has just been launched (just mind yourself when you close the lid - during an early prototyping session in Lilliput, one guy got crushed to death when he got his foot caught on the Escape key as the lid was being lowered):

I think I'm about to go in the other direction entirely, join the netbook brigade, and order myself one of these toys...

Then I'm going to stick MacOS X on it, and use it as my 'travelling' DJing laptop.
