I will tell you what love is...

Slipping you one whilst you are still asleep, then wiping you down and smoothing out your nightie before I go back to sleep.

Now if that is not love, what is?

...sounds good, but I think it is missing respect and tolerance for others. The above could be a definition of a real man, but if being comfortable in their own skin means going their own way regardless of other people, it could also be the definition of a completely arrogant tosser.

I rather like the way the thread has curved onto people putting in their penn’orth of what works for them. It isn’t always easy to define what works, because sometimes things work for reasons other than why you think they do. Anyway, my definitions have changed as I’ve got older and hopefully wiser.

There’s a big difference between “a real man” and “a perfect man” though, isn’t there? (Other than the fact that the perfect man doesn’t exist, I mean). But one can have a list of what one thinks one would like to find and what is or isn’t important, then meet a “real man”, and discover that love and lust can make that list go completely out of the window.

    Hi Dave,

Is it me or you that will be wearing the nightie. It's not quite clear

What, never? You were just unlucky - maybe you need to check out a Scottish crew!

Absolutely! There's a few cute ones at the firestation just down the road from me. Not that I've been hanging around outside oogling them.... But they were hard to miss when they had a strike a few years back, and were sitting outside the firestation having a bbq (in mid-winter) every day, and I had to walk past them to get to work.

There are men working outside on resurfacing our lane and I noticed that some of them are from the "Manly" company. I suppose these are real men? BTW I have been called "Pet" already !

No DS! I meant a sensible approach to money... e. g. including, but not limited to:
    • attempting to get out of / stay out of debt
    • ability to save money (emergency fund = extra points)
    • sensible pension provision
but also be able to have fun with their liquid assets e.g dancing, other hobbies, holidays

(Oh Dear - I really feel old now! )

I don't get the thing with firefighters - those boots are yucky and the uniforms never fit. Now a bloke in a proper uniform is entirely a different matter!

That Fire Extinguisher was given to you with love and affection.

    A solid bloke present.

Could save your life one day, try putting out a kitchen fire by beating the flames with a bunch of flowers....Let us know how you get on sweetie.

And whom may I ask is sending you dirty text messages? Cause it aint me is it?

Was at a meeting yesterday where free bottles of water were given out, the problem was I couldn't open it - tried various methods (including any possible tools in my handbag) and eventually had to resort to using a man !
