I would go for both.. thats what credit cards were invented for.
But i spose if that was not an option, i would go for the things i want then get the paddly pool out and stick my feet in that for a long weekend.
We all have a certain amount of cash - what it often comes down to, is what you decide is the more important use.
So where do holidays rate for you?
Is a holiday more important than say... a newer car, a biggger TV, and all that stuff we surround ourselves with.
If you had a choice of a holiday or "that thing you wanted", which would you go for?

Travel, travel, travel!!!!!
I can't afford a car, but I'm going to NZ this year. That's just how my priorities are, and it works for me.

No contest for me! I love travelling, and travel really does broaden the mind IMO.
I'm also far from being materialistic (I live in a rented mobile home by the river, with very few personal possessions (sp?)), and I would gladly give up the few things I have in order to travel more
I'm with Trouble...Go for both, life is too short.
I'm currently spending an arm and a leg on Garden decking, furniture and flowers, but it wont stop me having 2 holidays this year.
I'm not loaded...I have a three grand overdraft, that's what it's for.
With the Price of Petrol
A bigger faster Car is not one my priorities
Both are unimportant.
I'm more motivated by doing things than having things. So I'm for going on the holiday/weekender etc.
Things are things.
Holidays are experiences - often spending time out of the day to day bustle of life with people you love and exploring new places.
I know which I'd prefer.
Has to be travelling for me, I don't hanker after things as such. If I want something, and I can afford it, then I will buy it, but not at the expense of my holidays or my dancing jaunts.
if you love the life you live then you'll get a lot more done
Holidays and days out were always a priority for me. However, I am currently saving so that I can afford my own place and move out of my parents, this has meant cutting back on the holidays. Though I guess that once I am settled I will revert to holidays and days out being my priority.
Gorgeous Dancer I totally agree.
I have almost given my credit card a heart attack by booking the second weekender in approximately a week (Beach Ballroom and Kirriemuir )
It is worth it though The memories from both last time are still with me, getting me through those down days at work.
So in case you haven't worked it out - Holidays and happenings every time for me

In order of preference for me :-
1. Food…(you are what you eat!)
2. Home comforts…(Cosy house, comfy bed, sofas etc)
3. Things I want…(LCD TVs, DVDs, Microwaves, latest mobile phone etc)
4. Socializing (Drinks with friends, Ceroc, Ceilidhs, Cinema etc)
5. Holidays…(LA, Austria - skiing, weekend breaks…)
6. Girlfriends…(cost way to much )
How close is that to your perspective Martin ?
Cheers, DD.
Having just come back from a truly wonderful and magical time in Rhodes last week (sunshine every day, dancing under the stars and a full moon, the food, the history, the people, everything was perfect!!), I will be biased and say holiday
