Question Hoodie Generation - Plague or Our Fault?

    [Warning - ODA Article]

Imagine ... 5 years into the future a freak conditions lead to the creation of a parasitic creature that rapidly infests the land. Its dangerous, potentially fatal and costs millions to try to control. The solution is eradication of the nests ... preventing nay more of the creatures to breed. No brainer? If the parasite was a bug ... no worries ..... what if the parasites were the 'ASBO generation'?

The news for the last 12 months has carried ever more disturbing stories of the damage these social-misfits are causing to themselves and to society. The problems is, they didn't come form nowhere. This article really brought it home to me that the problem is now self-perpetuating. As long as these misfits keep on breeding, the problem expands. The Law is even more ineffective and incompetent than eve in this area. However, would it take a Nazi-style approach of 'selective non-breeding' to eradicate the problem? Is it a fundamental right of ALL members of society to propagate, or only if they conform to the norm of the society they live in?

Must admit I have mixed feelings. Having dealt with members of the sub-class I fear for the future if they are allowed to expand. At the same time, does one section fo society have any right to stop another section breeding. Education and punishment seem to fail ... so what are the options?

As appealing as a Nazi-style approach to this problem would be, sadly, we just have to put our faith in Darwin. The Darwin awards help us to keep track of this too.

As mof these kids enjoy having ASBO's, they should re-name them GAYBO's. Im sure none of them would want that.

OK ... I forget some of readers were not around at the genesis of the Forum.

Back in the early days, my speciality was the argue both sides of an argument or ... if one argument only was being portrayed, I'd offer a counter-view. My official title became Official Devils Advocate ... hence ODA .... geddit?

Mild smacking is allowed under a "reasonable chastisement" defence against common assault.
hmm "reasonable chastisement", does that work as a defence when smacking unruly moderators too ?
