Are these the BEST DANCE LESSONS in the WORLD ? ? ?

I do a lot of youtube browsing an am always comming across Jive Nation clips. I watch alot of them. Some of them contain pretty good stuff (apart from all the shouting (I thought CTA teachers were sometimes over the top)) and it's great that they are putting so many clips up.

However, Is it just me or does anyone else find the title of the clips abit annoying?

    Some examples:-

Yeah I saw these and found the titles very off putting, not sure why they've done that but they are worth looking at; not least for Simon's enthusiasm which cracks me up Perhaps a little bit too advanced at times, I'd like to see what the class makes of some of the intermediate routines.

I find the best part of the JiveNation clips are the comments from Czerniakowska ...

Arrogant is one word that we could use and yes the titles do pi** me off. I do like some of the clips and you can only admire Simon B's 'energy'.

What is clear is that he's been far more active than anyone else in seizing the opportunity for publicity that YouTube gives.

But is it good publicity or bad publicity ?

So did no-one else wonder if the title of the thread meant that Carlsberg had started doing dance lessons?

He has managed to get links of 5 of his clips onto a website run by his major competitor.

Simon taught at Rock Bottoms in May 07 and was double excellent.

I have never been to a Jive Nation class but do like the philosophy of teachers never leaving the floor and making sure they dance with everyone in an evening.

Love it or hate it, the marketing is working.

So, Jive Nation, is coming up regular.

I guess Simon is "doing his job well".

Whatever you want to say about the titles, or about Simon... He has an MBA... he understands marketing, and he is putting it into practice.

The fact that people see his clips, the fact that people talk about issues... raises awareness of his product.

    He ain't dumb

I'm not going to comment on the 'dance lessons' or teaching...

I'm not an expert, but wouldn't it be considered that the titles are used as a form of metatagging to pick up on search results for people who are trying to find dance related moves/details?

If so, and when you review the titles it seems to make sense, then I can understand it and also applaud the creative nature of the marketing.

So much time is spent by so many people to raise up a profile in the web community...

The fact that they are easy to find etc. would suggest, someone is not so dumb...

that maybe true, but that doesn't answer the question as 'arrogance' and 'annoying' have been used on this thread when discussing this publicity

but we can all agree it certainly is "publicity"

I agree that he has done really well getting the clips out there. The main reason this has been the case is prob down to how many Jive nation clips there are.

Love him or loathe him, Simon is a highly motivated and intelligent businessman. His personality irritates a lot of people, but it's also been the driving force behind Ish in it's heyday and Jive Nation over the last couple of years. It's hard to deny that he's done his job more successfully than most, and possibly anyone running an independent organisation in MJ in recent years in fact.

Regards the teaching - for whatever faults you can find with his teaching style, I'd still say he's at least as good as anything produced by Ceroc in the UK (and I say that only because he came out of Ceroc in Australia and therefore isn't CTA trained). He sells himself on a high energy vibe and regardless of what you think of him - it's worked in the past and continues to do so.

Thats a big statement. Good at what? Technique, teaching at the appropriate level, well balanced routines? I can think of some very good CTA who (IMHO) are significantly better than Simon e.g, Dan Baines, Viktor, Mick, Lisa, Jive Brummie, Paul Harris, Mike Ellard. Just curious as to how you think he matches them.

It depends on your point of view. If you're observation point is on the other side of the planet they all look like ants.

However, I've watched the first of these "best" lessons. On that there was a massive and pointless semi-circle on beat one and a massive and pointless "how" signal on beat 3 - beat 2 was OK

Still, the teacher was very decorative - if you like that sort of thing
