Do your own research
I'm engaged in a little discussion over on another forum, and I'm looking for an online clip, which proves that MJ can indeed have good musicality.
Any suggestions? Rep will be given...

heh - he probably did, tried youTube, and gave up
- obviously, this is the place of last resort, after trying all the sensible places.
Thing is, I know that MJ dancing can have good musicality, but I can't see any place where there's a good clip clearly and undeniably displaying this, to a non-MJ-dancer.
Most of the obvious examples would be competitions, and these clips aren't available online.
I'm sure there are examples somewhere. Any suggestions? Positive ones, that is?
I would think you'll probably see less musicality from people in competition than you would see from the same people in a social dance setting but maybe your point is that the competitions are more likely to have been captured on film?
I have a couple of Champs DVDs and JiveMasters from, I think, 2004 but I can't immediately recall anything in those that really fits your bill.
Sticking with the easy option (YouTube), my suggestions would be:
Freestyle:
Choreographed routine:
Also for freestyle:
Ali and kevin, "Everything" routine, Sidney
Can try this one.
The leader is rbbish but the follower has good musicality
Thanks for all those, I've posted them up, plus a nice one of Amir doing his thing.
We'll see what the response is...
EDIT: well, I've posted all of them except Lee's - missed that, I may add that in, it's quite nice.
NZ Monkey wonders if it's worth mentioning that only one of the clips David Bailey has posted in the thread in question isn't of Antipodeans......
(sorry Lee and Jamie - you didn't make the grade this time. Nice video though )
got to say though, the MJ "musicality example" videos on youTube are pretty poor compared to the WCS ones
Yes, unfortunately it does highlight how far (generally) MJ has to go. I've no problem with people saying that the general standard of MJ dancing is lower than in other dances - coz it is, I've said so myself.
What I dislike is people who have no actual experience of MJ, gratuitously slagging it off based on viewing some Youtube vids.
Actually, I'm tempted to post that, it is a nice vid.
But then, I'd have to rep Lee, and that'd be against the laws of nature or something...
I'd say the best video examples of MJ musicality are on the Jango website. I know it's not strictly MJ, but there's one of Amir and Yuko dancing to some French song which is less tango-y than most, and is probably the best advert that we have so far.
Dan
P.S. If you want a really good example, just bring a camcorder to Oxford, I'd be happy to oblige...
