There is a certain type of soft-mindedness. It is exhibited by people who believe in astrology and base their lives around their horoscope. It is exhibited by people who think that they will be cured by homeopathy. And it is exhibited by people who think more of people who do something wrong and then apologise than they do of people who did nothing wrong

It's as if those soft-minded people actually think the person who apologised has actually become a better person than they would have been had they not done the thing they apologised for

Getting it wrong and then apologising is never better than having not got it wrong in the first place. But it is better than not apologising at all - unless that apology is insincere ...

Good. A little bit of practice and you can be completely sceptical.

French social scientists offered a free 'chart' to anyone in return for a promise to fill out a questionnaire which would be provided with the chart.
Regardless of the time, date and place of birth the candidates were provided with a copy of chart that had been purchased from a 'real' astrologer, drawn up based on Hitler's birth details (the astrologer didn't know this).
A staggeringly large percentage of the candidates reported how accurate their charts were.

You might also reflect on how astrologers in, say, the dark ages were able to make accurate charts when they didn't know about Neptune, Uranus and Pluto, all of which appear in modern charts. Not to mention the chaos they must have been thrown into at the discovery of two other bodies about the same size as Pluto are orbiting the sun between Neptune and Uranus.
