Hard work done for me, just down to Teachers, DJ's and Crew now...and that's a fair old line up!

Fletch, don't forget you grass skirt for Saturday night and your talc for Sunday
    Well done Mike

Thanks for the info. If it was only the dancing, I may have had second thoughts.

As I said in an earlier post, this is one of those rare occasions I can indulge my two passions in life – mountains and dancing – without having to make a choice: I can have it all

Are there any groups from the Manchester/Cheshire/Scotland area going that have a spare male place available??

Hi there, im after a lift this weekend and im extremely flexible as to where from. Basically im in bristol and would like to travel up with someone from here as i cant drive, im willing to get on a train to most places that are north of me within a reasonable distance (about two hours) and would of course contribute to fuel costs. Any help would be great, Nick xx

    "NEWS FLASH"!

Just heard that a disaster has struck the Hafan weekend!!!

Apparently it was raining and it started to come through the ceiling, then all of a sudden the whole roof came crashing down.

I don't think anyone was injured but that was just pure luck!

I believe they are being relocated to another building!

If I hear anything more, I'll let you all know.

Here we are then the first review!

I"m sure there's going to be a lot about it on here, but yes The roof did collapse - it wasn't just rain though - it was a monsoon.
Early on Sat evening, we thought they'd turned on the water feature, when water started coming down like a waterfall, but when the same thing happened at about a dozen other areas in the ballroom, we decided it was time to leave as ceiling tiles started crashing down. Luckily it was early so there wasn't many about, but if it had been an hour later................Anyway no one was hurt and Mike Alsopp leapt into action secured the use of the sports hall and within a couple of hours you wouldn't have known anything had happened. The only thing that suffered was the Beach party - but what do you expect from an English beach!

Anyway, well done Mike, nice atmosphere and a nice carvery, not to busy, but that meant room to dance, but I would think that he got rid of his allocated spaces. Accomodation best I've been to for a ceroc weekender. (but there again I did move up about 5 grades for this one, thanks to a special friend!!)

But when will MJ organisers realise that gender balancing doesn't work, unless there is someone with a big stick forcing everyone to do every workshop.

Screaming kids stamping around in the apartment above from 6am, lumpy uncomfortable beds, and dancing in a sports hall with no bar - granted the last one was one of those things but for us it was the last straw.
Highlight of the weekend was 160 miles of empty roads on the way home followed by a quiet comfortable bed. Total time on site 25 1/2 hours!
Forgot how much fun it is driving in the early hours...
I wish Mike every success next year with this event as it has potential but we'll not be making the trip.

Re: Ceroc Hafan Weekender, Phllheli - June 20th-23rd.

I can understand why people felt like going after that, it was a bit scary for a while, but for the sake of a couple of hours I think it all turned out all right! The sportshall wasn't ideal, but it had a floor, dj and music and I thought that was the precursur for a dance weekend!
As it happens everyone at the CEROC weekend also had access to all the activities on site, which included a live band in the Showbar, if the worst came to the worst, so I think packing up and going home was a bit drastic!
All I can say those who went home missed out on a lot of dancing and a nice atmosphere - but judging by the following midnight, I wouldn't have thought that many had gone home. I know this was only limited to about 250, and there wasn't far off that on Sunday!

Noisy people at 6am. Uncomfortable beds.

Sounds like just about every other dance weekender I've ever been on.....

Except usually the noisy people at 6am are the adults on their way home from dancing. Just be grateful you weren't underneath the party that Franck and Sheena would have been having at that time!

Oops freudian slip!! Of course I meant a BRITISH beach......its just a good job I never said Welsh!! now that would have been racist!!!
(It is a lovely beach in pwllheli though......yes I remembered how to spell it at last...only the the Welsh could have a thhhh in a place name without a 'th' in the spelling!!)

given the circumstances Mike, his crew and Haven did a great job, to turn things around and have everyone dancing again within a couple of hours.

We did get a few funny looks as we were walking back to the chalet, in torrential rain, with our beach clothes though

I loved the floor in the Sportshall, and by Sunday evening, there was a bottle bar, too.
Had my best dances of the weekend there

    I had a great time!

    Hi Folks,

I can't discuss the actual incident in detail in case we decide to pursue a claim in the future, suffice to say it was a very nasty experience.

I would, however, like to say a massive thank you for those who acted so swiftly in helping to turn a large sports hall into an acceptable dance venue within a very short space of time so we could continue our weekend activities.

I'd also like to extend that thank you all our guests who were absolutely fantastic about the sudden 'changes' to the scheduled program and for their kind remarks.

I hope you had a great time regardless.

It was very scary when the roof started coming down, there was a massive crash just behind me when I was running out I looks around to find a big part of the celing has come down, I tride to tell the people in the childs ball pool to get the children out but they wouldn't listen so I smashed the fire alarm, that got them out.

We stood out side for a small time and then Mike appeared and said he had found an ulternitive, he did realy well doing that withing 1 hour we were all back dancing.

I missed the 70's night I had to leave early on Sunday morning to go off filming but Mike worked the DJ's so he got a slot to do a Motown and Northern Soul section for me

The weather was crap, you can't help that I had a good time.
