Yes, saw it. I would have complied and put it back on again a.s.a.p knowing it would make a better story - and I'm pretty sure the police, when called, would realise they probably had better things to do ...er...he says, going against plenty evidence to the contrary recently

Yes, I did - article here (ahem, not that I read the Sun or anything).

I like this quote from the complete numpty official:
"If a T-shirt had a rude word or a bomb on it for example, a passenger may be asked to remove it."
    Say what?

I can - just about - understand the "rude word" thing - kiddies on airplanes etc. - but a picture of a bomb? On a T-shirt? In what sense is that a threat to security?

EDIT: Ahhh - I've just twigged. He's not white. Therefore he must be dodgy.

Here's the pic - definitely not a white person.

Mr DB, can we have a new thread for this story? I'd start it, but I think I'd be blocked.

Thing is, I'd want to include all applicable synonyms for "mindboggingly ****ing stupid" in the title before the words "airport security", and I'm sure there's a limit to the number of characters allowed which is somewhat less than a million .

I'm surprised you didn't link to the picture of the actual event.

"Nice day at work, Nigel? Put your feet up and I'll make you a cup of tea."

"We 'ad a right one today, Cathy. Tried to get on the plane wearing a security risk."

"Er - um - did you say he was wearing a security risk, Nigel?"

"I should f'kin cocoa. Nasty 40 foot high robot with high-tech weapons instead of arms."

"What - 40 foot tall and he was trying to get on a plane?"

"No - do concentrate, Cathy. The terrorist was only 5'10" - the 40 foot high robot was on his t-shirt..."

Well, to be fair, he was a 30-year-old man wearing a Transformers Tshirt.

Re: Transformers T-shirt and BA numbskulls

This is quite worrying . Twirly and I are flying on Friday. I had planned to wear my iconic che guevara T-Shirt.. but as that's a picture of a known terrorist/freedom fighter* (delete as appropriate) It might not be a good idea. Perhaps I should wear my "GEEK INSIDE" t-shirt instead.. but as you know a GEEK in the original use of the word was a circus freak who would bite the heads off chickens (I only do that when I'm really hungry these days) so that would probably fall fowl* of the airport censors on grounds of public decency.

I dare say I could wear my Beowulf forum T-shirt.. but It has my logo on it.. a Wolf.. which is kinda like a jackal in some aspects, which in turn could be misinterpreted as a homage to Carlos the jackal who was another terrorist. And didn't Beowulf slay grendel using a sword? clearly an overly violent image. So I can clearly not chose that t-shirt. Perhaps I should wear my clockwork orange t-shirt.. but as that depicts a movie where the main character revels in violent and sexual practices I can safely rull that t-shirt out. Perhaps a plain black t-shirt? ah but doesn't black have negative connotations too? They might think I had something to hide.

Sod it.. I'll fly nude .. I'll not offend anybody that way will I?

    *sorry
