I think this sums it up, "qualified" or not.
Phil got lots of advice - most of it from experienced dancers who had gone through the process he is going through, most of it saying the same thing.
So what does it matter if the advice was from somene "qualified" to teach or not?
The great thing was that people were supportive and wanted to help, and a lot of that help was pure Gold.
I’ll take your word on Nigel, but I recall a minor dispute between HQ and Ceroc Thames Valley some years ago about Simon and Nicole teaching for this reason. As I understand it neither are teaching for Ceroc anymore anyway.
Amir later blamed his rejection on his accent as I recall, and did so somewhere on this forum. I’m far to busy at the moment to dig the specific post up sadly*.
[size=1]*Sadly because it’s work that’s keeping me busy, and not in the “day passing quickly” kind of way we hope for when we arrive in the morning [/sad]
As to qualifications...
It makes sense to train your own teachers, as you want them to meet your standards, not the standards of an independant body.
In many cases a sucessful company may have higher standards than the independant body.
Qualifications on a piece of paper (or on a cool plastic toy) can mean something to the person who has them, but it is only a starting point, and does not make one any better than the next person.
Thats ok. We don't value your opinion anyway .
What? Storm in a tea cup? Trivia ? Lightweight arguments? sheer unadulterated pointlessness? on THIS forum. There are people in the UN that come here for advice you know!!! (mostly for fashion tips from David Bailey)I sometimes wonder if the teaching qualification debate is something of a storm in a tea-cup.
Good advice can come from anywhere and should not be dismissed based on "lack of qualifications" alone, thats a cop out for the people who disagree with the advice but feel they are qualified. Hmm, sounds familiar
He's learnt now:
Hey, Amir, maybe you should re-apply? Go on, you know you want to - standing in front of a stage in Brent is far more fun than spending 6 months in boring old Argentina...We’ll be having a special themed workshop, on Soltadas, which involves ‘breaking’ the tango embrace
OK then, if you give the trophy to me I promise you won't have to kiss David
(at least not on my account!)
I' confused
Does having a teddy trophy constitute an ability to teach ?
