Any tips for a nice Restaurant in Southport?

I seem to recall someone mentioning a couple of restaurants in Southport but cannot find the thread.

Does anyone have a good tip for Sunday late afternoon

    Thanks in advance

Me and Gav went to a nice Italian but I can't remember the name of it (sorry, not very helpful)

I do remember the parking being a bit of a drag, so I'd get a cab from the Pontins and have a few drinks & relax rather than trying to find a parking space.

Me and Gav will be eating out on Saturday night somewhere. I'll let you know Sunday if we come across anything nice.

Try PMing DJ, he seemed to be fairly expert on the subject (of restaurants in Southport before CJ gets in there again!)

Contrary to the rumours, Twirly, I hadn't been in there a first time...

I think that's possibly just because he's one of the few that bothers to tell anyone.

I can't find the place that DT and I went to, so it's either not there any more or maybe it was never listed and we just turned up without booking.

Hmm, might be nice to go somewhere off site on the Sat night for dinner. Anyone any idea of rough taxi costs for going into Southport?

The Gourmet Kitchen may now be The Little Gourmet now

The Italian place on Ainsdale high street is OK, and easily walkable. Though often full of dancers on Saturday night .

    Ainsdale has a High Street?

I clearly don't go off site very often....

    Any where but Pontins resturant.
Lets hope they improved because the crap they have tried to serve up is generally disgusting from my own personal experience.

Wonder if MR Grumpy will be serving chips again in take away??

I expected a preference for a better class of taxi to be honest

Re: Any tips for a nice Restaurant in Southport?

I have been to a nice Italian also in town in the High street half way along on crossroads RHS, can't remember what it was called.

There was also a Chinese restaurant out of town but not far from Pontins probably good for a large group. It was freezing in the winter but the food was OK.

I will probably be eating out either at Pontin's ( I am that desperate) or Town every night this time as cooking is a pain on crutches.

Time for John or Wes to chip in....

I went to the very first Southport, having stayed at Wes' place for a few days before, I would say the best restaurant in the world is - Wes' place - his wife is such a GOOD cook...

Anyhow, we got there on the Thursday to set up, and we went "into town" for a feed in the evening, the food was great (but that might have been mega hunger from working all afternoon and the fact that we were "treated" and did not have to pay... sort of makes the food taste better )

Not sure which one it was, but it was in the "main drag"
