Another taxi said to me "ooh you should be a taxi dancer now"... and next thing I knew I was being auditioned by a lady called Jackie (sp?) Fellowes (sp?) (she organised the taxis in the central london venues at the time).

It was about 6 months after I got properly into Ceroc in a major way.

Guess that must have been about 6 years ago.

I was approached by the teacher at my local Ceroc venue as was asked if I'd like to Taxi. I auditioned for David (Ceroc London) about a month later and have been taxiing since the beginning of May.
I've only been doing Ceroc for about a year and a half (on and off) so sometimes wonder whether I'm good enough to taxi , but I've been dancing for about 18 years and used to teach beginners ballroom classes and techniques workshops at Uni so I guess I have enough behind me to recommend me as someone to guide those new to the dancing world - and I certainly have enough enthusiasm for dancing to spread around!

The thing I find really encouraging is that when you're dancing with them, (being a complete beginner) they won't do any moves that are too advanced, and it helps build up your confidence with the moves you've just learnt.
It also helps that they can lead brilliantly, which in turn makes you look good.
They have the patience of a saint, and I thank you for that

Erm... My Mum used to dance too...
Nah, just kidding, I'm not as young as I look - and no, before anyone asks, I don't have a secret I can tell you, just keep dancing and don't smoke ( Andy, for you).

Well, given that all the guys would have been practicing all those combs they learned over the past fortnight at JJ's , I felt it would be sensible to mention the defence stuff for the ladies!

As to where I learned it from...

Franck asked me to a couple of years back. I think his criteria at the time were:

    • Dancers who could get through an Intermediate lesson with ease
    • People with an outgoing, chatty, enthusiastic personality
    • People who were comfortable in dodgy clobber

Since I managed to satisfy one of these, I got recruited
