No problem if the kids are spectators...
Legislation applies when they are participants... As does the liability of the organisers for safety and supervision...
I think it is likely that if the children/young people are with their parents/guardians, who will either have parental responsibilty or take a supervisory role, then the situation at the Champs may be one which requires the organisors not to seek statutory measures to ensure child safety. Like you say DS it is in many ways no different to going to another social event with a child/young person.
if you love the life you live then you'll get a lot more done

There was a recent case where a family having a party were asked if a kid could have a go on the bouncy castle... The child was subsequently hurt.. The family renting the bouncy castle were held liable for ensuring safety and supervision of the bouncy castle and found liable for over a hundred thousand pounds.. Even though the child's parents were there..

Actually it could cost them a million...
Hmm, his parents choose to let him go there and go on the bouncy castle, and it was an accident. No one is to blame here. However the only loser is the insurance company ... and people trying to get insured for bouncy castles in future
Buuuuut...all beside the point anyway, the ruling was that there was "not enough" supervision, despite it being in an open public area. The Scottish Champs is a ticketed function and would surely have Terms and Conditions saying supervision is the parents problem - as it should be. Also this is English law, not Scottish.

My apologies, as this is a new category in the Scottish Competition, I forgot to add this to the list of categories, that teachers cannot enter, when making up the entry form.
The amended pdf.
