If we are travelling South on M74/6: would we like to stop off for an impromptu lunch? If so, where?? There are a couple of "nice" service stations in the Lakes... any ideas??

CJ from your quote of lunch and M74/6 I suspect that you must be leaving Fife mid morning. I was not planning to be leaving as early as that, however if you keep me in the loop as to the plan, I will see if I can adjust our plans to suit!
